Aiko was born to the head of an elven crime syndicate in Alliria. While her father treated her with love, he also raised her to become a bargaining chip later in life. Specifically he aimed to offer her as a bride to gain territory or business when the right deal came along. Aiko learned to be observant, to entertain, to account, to garden, and a number of other skills to be a “perfect bride” in pursuit of her father’s goals. The perfect opportunity never came, and eventually Aiko’s father became involved in a turf war with a rival gang that was more powerful than anticipated. Aiko’s father sent his daughter to Elbion, concerned his entire clan would be wiped out.

Aiko’s father was wise and shrewd enough that Aiko never learned of the true family business, and believed her father a legitimate merchant. Now a student at Elbion, she remains dutiful to her father’s wish to be a student but confused about her place in the world and the state of things back home.
