The Keendieu family was a notorious group of elite assassins and mercenaries. They were well-known for their inhuman abilities and were often hired to kill high-risk targets such as nobles and rulers. Several hundred years ago, however, the entire family was killed under mysterious circumstances. The rumors stated that a lone man with a blade of silver massacred them in their sleep. Many question the source of this tale. Nonetheless, it is widely believed that the man himself spread these stories so that all would know of his accomplishment. Be that as it may, gossip can be a cruel thing.

The ignorance of others warped and twisted the tragedy to reflect a heroic tale. A single man took revenge on the family that killed his own. Of course, like any tale, the story changes with perspective. Aeress awoke one night to find a single shadowy figure standing over the dead bodies of her parents and older brother. When it noticed her, the shadow disappeared as quickly as it came leaving behind the mutilated bodies of her family. It was a mystery to her. She understood why people would want her family dead, they had killed many people, but the figure itself was confusing. It was nothing like she'd ever seen. Most people would assume it had been her imagination, her brain's way of coping. Of course, she'd had fear beaten out of her since she could walk. Emotion is weakness and fear is by far the worst. She knows what she saw. On that very night, Aeress promised herself she'd find whatever killed her family and annihilate it. That promise became her life's purpose.

She spends most of her time taking on mercenary work while gathering information and leads on that which killed her family. She feels she owes it to her mother to avenge their deaths.
