Ulric was tired, as he normally was these days. The trip from his home to the Spine was a long one. He had encountered many dangers on his way to the Spine. Just two days ago he fought off a band of goblins with his ax and barely made it out with his life. His father had bid him farewell on his quest and sent him off with just enough rations to last him a week.
Ulric had already gone through most of his rations in about three days, I guess father didn't think that far ahead. With this in mind, Ulric resumed his hike up the long twisting road. As he walked his legs started to tire out more and more. Soon Ulric didn't even feel them.
He looked up at the sky and decided that it was about time to settle down for the night. The sun was setting and the first moon was coming closely followed by the second. He set up his fire so it was hot but not too big. He settled down in his little utopia and drifted to sleep.
Later in the night Ulric awoke to a noise in the night. What in the hell was that, Ulric thinks to himself. The last things he sees was the wood of a club and a nasty grin on dark face
