Imagine a nation, where everyone is happy. Everyone has food in their plates. No one has to worry about weather or not they made enough money to buy food, and can sleep safely under their roofs without worry about an invasion knowing they will be protected by the military and its mages with their phoenixes. Some place where event the lowest caste citizen will live in relative comfort. At night the cities are as alive as they are in the day, full of brothels, entertainment, and illegal drugs that most nations have outlawed. The whole goal is to keep the citizens drugged up and happy believing their nation is the absolute best!

This is the United Cities of The Crimson Moon’s founder’s goal is. However such peace and happiness comes at a cost. Education will be limited so that the only education that the people hear is what the government wants them to hear. Scry crystals are everywhere, so no one is truly alone, as they watch for anything that is illegal or treasonous against the government. Only the guards, and military members may carry weapons or even posses them.

The Mages in the military will be the government and the government will rule through it’s mages and their military. But not necessarily controlling everything, just control aspects of people’s lives where they will be able to live in bliss and without much care other than to be drugged up and live a content life.

OH! And no humans allowed at all, sorry humans (half-humans will be looked at on a case by case basis) ;)

Welcome to my newest project! A building nation among the islands southwest of the Cortosi Coast, and our ultimate goal is to provide every one of our new Nation’s people with happiness, contentment and peace. But that doesn’t just sprout from the ground.

We need to build and to take lands to enable this goal, and let our followers flourish and those who wish to (that are NOT human) join our ranks so they will know no hunger or other pains of another nation’s peasant life. I have a lot more notes on the goals of this nation/empire I wish to build up, but the above is basically the goals and values for the nation in a nutshell, and goals can change as threads go on.

So who wants to join us, and bring out a Nation like no other has seen in the known world?

What if we have someone who finds out about something they're not supposed to and they feel oppressed by the governments censoring of knowledge and decides the best course of action is to protest, informing others about the limitations so a group will form, sparking a rebellion who pursues liberation and free thinking for people. tHeNnN stricter laws on drug use because some people could get very vIoLeNt when intoxicated

I read the article
and the traveling thing could pose it's own issue-

What if this could be a future arc.

What if I'm a dumbass.

Well everyone can travel, just can’t go so high within the cities depending on the caste. If you are in the military you are the highest caste so you can go anywhere within a city really.

And no one knows they are censoring information, and if you are caught raising a rebellion within one of the cities and the whole city rises up. Basically the citizens agree the the censoring when the became citizens and renounced their old citizenship. If/when their settlement is taken over they will have the option to leave, but who wants to leave such a blissful and happy nation where you could basically live a full life without the worry of having adequate living? Particularly with so much at your disposal still.

Rest assure the phenoixes and their mages will.... handle rebllions/forming rebellions it if all negotiations don’t work. But you are never truly alone in the cities, as scry crystals are *everywhere* in every house, alley etc. so they’d know very fast and dispatch a few mages to bring the potential traitor in for questioning.

The drugs drugs and intoxication violence is expected and dealt with accordingly on the case, however a lot of bar keeps will obviously stop the supply if they feel the person has had enough booze. Since there will be a very high chance the person won’t remember anything if they are that drunk and are kicked out by the guards or other patrons. Basically drugs and alcohol are almost a staple in the society, even the Mages and military who are regarded as heros spend a lot of time at bars or brothels. And that is perfectly fine.

Gotta keep the people drugged up at happy yah know?

I know right!? XD but the civilians don't know that and only the highest ranking mages do. Even Mages have been executed for trying to work against the government and they put a lot of work into them to make and form them into dangerous and thoughtful military leaders.

So you are making a surveillance state that is at the same time a utopia. This sounds like a medieval Logan's Loophole to me, just without the prerequired death at, what was it 25? As much as I understand the mages created this system out of goodwill? At some point, rumours are going to leak out about the city and since Arethil is a harsh place one of the major problems you will face is that almost everyone will try to obtain citizenship. Once newcomers arrive, they will be aware that the state censors things and tell everybody else.

There is also another large problem: if your citizens won't have to worry about bringing food to the table, many of them will grow complacent. They will save their strength while working and cheat the state, and at some point the city won't be able, in a manner of speaking, to turn a profit.

Now, if your city will still be able to sustain itself even though your citizens are lazy, then it may only be the goodwill of the mages that keeps them fed. They will have to work for their whole life to keep a whole city of peasants happy, and that will hang in the back of their minds. That may not be a problem if the ones who currently rule are the founding group, but as the founders die you have to find new willing mages that share that same ideal and are willing to sacrifice their time for it, or pay them very well. But how will you pay them if no one works properly?

You do realize that the citizens will be the ones helping to provide the food etc? With all the entertainment and other resources as well. They all will have a job within the cities, and the whole thing has its own currancy. And once again, I do have a sand box page on this, so I suggest you read it if you didn't since the above is sort of a summary <3 not everything is made by the government, the government aka the military just controls things.
