Fable - Ask A Matter of Debt

She saw the light in his eyes, the change to his voice subtle but present. There seemed before her a man of kindred experiences; he was sweet, gentle, and yet she did not mistake that gentleness for weakness. She had seen how he disposed of those thugs in the Outer City; she was no fool to mistaken him for someone harmless.

But for now, he believed he was in her debt. He would be useful in many ways... but she would not use him the way most would have wanted to.

No, she was curious, but not abusive.

A soft chuckle slipped past her lips, as she strode away. Her voice floated behind her as she did, letting him have his time for himself.

"We leave within the hour, barring you need anything to bring with you. Meet me at the harbor."

Takashi nodded in agreement at the lady's words, watching her slip away from sight until he was left alone in the gardens, much to his delight. The peaceful silence was exactly what he needed in that hour of preparation before the coming voyage.

In that hour of tranquility, he searched for both strength and guidance, so that he could fulfill the task given to him, like in every hunt before. He had given his word to that lady, to protect her, and he would not allow himself to fail.

She had sparked some kind of admiration within him. The life she led, so different from his own, and at the same time that they shared so many similarities. He felt there was much to learn about her, but he would not overstep his bounds.

Tak had always been of a inquisitive nature, but he had also learned of respect and discipline. And as such, both were required in that moment.

Time went by quickly as he cleared his head with meditation, and the time to depart was nearing. Takashi finished his rest, putting his sword back on its place before searching for his way out of that green paradise, firm steps towards the harbor, as instructed by Lady Rosenstern.
