Emir Fattahi, the Phoenix King
The Phoenix Empire continues to resist our calls for alliance.
Twice now we have promised him a daughter of some of our most esteemed families, invited him to parleys and balls, offered him a chance to tour the Empire to see its greatness... yet all our missives have gone unanswered. I would have begun to worry that there was no such Shāhanshāh and it was some expansive lie the Rakshasa told us to keep us chasing the carrot of peace were it not for the fact I had come to Mehmett myself.
I happened to catch my first glance upon him yesterday when I first arrived. A tall brute of a man with eyes like the sun themselves it was hard to mistake him for anyone other than the Shāhanshāh. Despite my long journey here I threw myself at his feet to beg an audience but he stepped over me like I was little more than dirt. Not even the news Gerra no longer ruled seemed to stir interest in him to hear my peace treaty. I believe he despises the Empire in its entirety.
Having spent the day here and seen the marvels this species have accomplished I cannot help but feel as small as he must see us. Some passing fade whilst his Empire continues after several millennia, only growing stronger and more confident in themselves. They must think of us as little more than toddlers in the grand scheme of politics, playing at crayons.

Rakshasa
The Rakshasa are a race known for their illustrious magical abilities. By the uneducated they are often reduced to little more than powerful mages who often roam the plains and offer their services as advisors, generals and ambassadors. The truth is far more complex.
Hailing from the legendary Phoenix Empire, the Rakshasa are more akin to the elves and faefolk than they are humans. They live considerably longer lifespans than the typical human, and are blessed with the abilities to feel the ley lines that run throughout the world. Much like the fae therefore, they tend to be drawn to cities or towns where these ley lines are strongest. Like the elves, they are natural mages. Whereas elves tend to get their magic through the main elements such as air, water, earth and fire, the Rakshasa draw their powers directly from the sun. They collect energy from the sun through their skin which they can then synthesis and expel into gems through bloodletting. These gems then act as stores of the powers sun which can be drawn upon when necessary.
When the Rakshasa die in a violent manner they are able to cast their life source into a nearby object, imbuing it with all all of that Rakshasa's power. Often, when a powerful Rakshasa nears death due to old age they will volunteer instead to be killed in order that their strength may be passed into a stone and passed on to their next of kin.
Despite their power source being the sun, the Rakshasa can specialise in various forms of magic including elemental magic. Their highly esteemed Academy is designed to help a Rakshasa realise the specialism they wish to pursue.
