Atlas of Skythe
Atlas is a wild man of the Skythian hill tribe. His people are a reclusive band of primitive savages who raid at the fringes of orc territory and even sometimes as far as the Spine or the southlands. He is outcast, born with uncommon wanderlust.
If it bleeds he can kill it but Atlas knows nothing of cultured ways. He is clever enough to ride a horse, row a boat, and master fire. Anything more complicated is probably beyond him. All he needs is a sword in one hand and a coin purse in the other and he'll subject himself to insane risk for whoever is paying.
Appearance
Strong of brow with wild black hair and smoldering grey eyes. His physique is more primal than merely athletic. Atlas wears simple rags and leathers. In colder climes he might go so far as a bear or warg pelt. Never far from the hill man's hand is a sword or axe.
Skills and Abilities
What he lacks in combat training he makes up for in brute force and keen instincts. Like many primitive wildlings Atlas has the capacity to ignore pain when driven to anger or fighting for his life. If nothing else his intimidating presence can be useful in most encounters.
Personality
Although he has a kind of natural intelligence no one could mistake Atlas for a learned man. He is blunt, quick to anger, and often violent. He lives by his own principles and adopts a certain kind of code, the code of the wild. Civilization's savagery often confuses or disturbs him.
Biography & Lore
In the harsh western hill lands of the Northern Steppes or Taagi Baara Steppes as they are sometimes known there are savage tribes of human barbarians who live in isolation and raid nearby civilized settlements when their meager existence grows desperate enough. The warriors of Skythe have not posed a serious threat to their orc neighbors in over a generation since their last great warband's decisive defeat.
Most have never even heard of a Skythian before they see Atlas. He must seem like something of a missing link from ages past. There is not a trace of culture in him. Were it not for his distinctly human complexion and features he could easily be mistaken for some kind of advanced ape. He lives, he burns with life, he loves, he slays, and is content.
