The niece of a powerful noble, the King of Drennantor, she spent much of her childhood confined within high stone walls, kept safe—but also kept ignorant—by her watchful uncle who warned her against the dangers of the world beyond. Despite her gilded cage, Yvaine possessed a restless spirit and an insatiable curiosity, drawn to the stories whispered by the wind and the secrets that lay hidden in the dark.
