- Name: The Truth
- Type: Arcane Discipline/Concept
The Truth is a mysterious magical force that allows the wielder to bend magical energy, nullifying it, shrinking it, or enlarging it. Using this, they can do pretty much everything that their mind desires - as long as their body doesn't burn to a crisp, as physical bodies are typically very susceptible to destruction as this is very hard to control - only a few beings, all of them Shards, have mastered it - and only use it as a last resort, as even the simplest of acts with this form can backfire and result in catastrophic and potentially apocalyptic events.
One can also combine this with other magical disciplines to enlarge the effect, and many magicians have found this a very useful, albeit very volatile combination of practices.
One can only obtain this power from a Shard, as they are the ones that guard the Truth - how this is done without endangering the caster's body and mind is a topic beyond the scope of this work - and thus it is excluded.
The Truth is a largely wordless and textless art, using raw emotions and thoughts, which can be structured using words or text. This puts you at a disadvantage, though, as your opponent knows what you are to do - not that they could stop it.
The Truth draws on one or all of three things to use.
1. The caster's body - this source is incredibly dangerous, as you can easily trip and cast an irreversible spell that will drain your body of energy rather quickly. It is more stable, however, because unbalanced thoughts do not pose as much of a danger.
2. The world around them - Plants, animals, pretty much any being without the necessary magical protection can be fed off of. If using this at all, make sure you only draw off of those that can withstand the the spell.
3. The Truth itself - The most powerful of this art are somehow able to draw off of an external source - something with power akin to a god, but with no awareness. It is a force of nature, not a god or any other being. The particular dangers of this are that the sheer amount of power pushing through your body can cause it to spontaneously combust and your mind to loose all sense of sanity at the mere contact of this force. One unbalanced thought, one wrong move, and you are sent spinning down into madness, and possibly, death.
