Davy Jones Locker is a place dimension reserved for souls lost at sea though sailors particularly pirates use the term as an idiom for the bottom of the ocean. Those who are trapped in Davy Jones locker are not technically dead though they are trapped in a place full of sea demons and devils unable to either pass on to the afterlife or escape the Locker.
