Basker is a big black Borzoi hound and is the companion of Syr Marden. He has been working and traveling with Syr Marden since he was a young man. Basker was born of a nobles litter of pups but was quickly sold at a low price to the first buyer because he was born with a cleft pallet which causes him to look like he’s always snarling. He was sold to an artificer who uses animals to test his magics. Poor Basker was subject to various magical experiments and still retains some mild magical properties. He was rescued by Syr Marden when the knight sensed the discordant magic coming from inside the artificer’s home and felt bad for the poor puppy. After spending some time with the pup he learned that Basker’s magic and his had bonded and he could sense the hound’s emotions to an extent. He is a very patient and gentle dog as his master has raised him to be. He has learned to be Marden‘s seeing eye dog when magic is in short supply and defends his master when they are out on jobs.
