Appearance
Rylan is of average height with a muscular, hardened body type from many years of training and working. His eyes are blue and hair is brown that extends slightly passed his shoulders. He has a neatly trimmed and scruffy beard and other facial hair, having the same color as his hair, with the exception of a few blonde hairs that tend to sprout around his chin area. Rylan adorns himself with polished black leather armor around his legs and chest with a mix of some red plated armor covering his upper chest, arms, and neck. He also wears a pair of matching pauldrons and gauntlets with a helmet that covers the majority of his head, save for his eyes, nose and mouth. He can be seen wearing a black cloak, nearly always with his head draped. Lastly, on his back is a large great-sword, his primary weapon of choice, with a hand and a half sword sheathed to his side and a dagger on the opposite leg.
Skills and Abilities
Having being hindered by his plethora of weaponry strapped to him, Rylans' mentor thought it was wise for him to learn a simple summoning spell to give him the range on his enemies, as well as not adding on to the weight of his equipment. The spell was called Summon Bow and allowed him to create a bow of arcane energy with ten arrows at his disposal, however, with his lack of knowledge of magic and his incompetence to teach himself further, he can only use this spell once every day, as this one spell usually drains him of the arcane levels in his body.

Other than the one spell, the only thing Rylan has for skills are swordsmanship in nearly all forms of the sword and the proper tactics and strategies in combat. He can prepare sieges, ambushes, pitched battles, offensive and defensive maneuvers and trap-making.

His weaknesses are in his Human blood, the lack of depth of sight during the late hours of the night and the mortality that he must keep up with to stay on top of any enemy he may encounter.
Personality
Rylan is a man that usually keeps to himself, not talking much to anyone and getting straight to the point on the subjects that he will talk to others about. Besides that, he is interested in money, selling his sword and strength to anyone that has the appropriate coin and never turning away a client. He might not look or act like it, but he is a humble man and won't usually like a compliment from his clients or other people he may stumble upon.
Biography & Lore
Rylan was once a proud soldier of the Vel Anirin army, pledging himself to its protection and well-being of the denizens. Fighting hard to repel both brigand and monster alike that took to harassing the local settlements, the man has seen his share of combat. His knowledge and survival led him up in the ranks to one day lead his own band of soldiers, taking them onto many missions to the towns and lands around them to protect and defend. Little did he know that in his ranks was a man jealous of his captains fame and glory, whispering with the others to join the envious mans plot to overtake Rylan. Eventually, the plan would come into place during a raid on an bandit encampment. Though the bandits were large in numbers, nearly taking the group of soldiers in a two to one ratio, they would never expect a pincer attack that was also a surprise. So the groups were made, Rylan would take one half of the group and head from the South, while the second group, led by Rylans' most trusted subordinate and friend, would take from the North. Once everyone was set, Rylan would charge through the camp and this would be the signal for the other group to begin their assault as well. When Rylan made his first kill, he looked to watch for the second group, but no one was there. He scanned the tree line and found no one, except a few men who had been bled and hung from the trees. Thinking it was the bandits, he encouraged his men to press on to kill the remaining bandits. He had made his way to the center of the camp, where he was supposed to meet his allies, but no one was there. Looking to his rear, he found what remained of his men and a large number of fleeing bandits. For a split moment, he had thought that the battle was over, however, an arrow came flying into the socket of one of his soldiers eyes... But it was not from the direction of the running bandits, it was from the point where the rest of his group was supposed to be. He watched as his soldier fell to the ground and then many more arrows came flying onto him and his men. He yelled for his men to get to cover, but nearly half of his remaining force had perished from the surprise volley. He landed under a small wooden hut, watching the hill to see his secondary force charging into the camp, killing his men and surrounding Rylan. Rylan looked up to see his once thought of friend, smiling defiantly at him with his head held high in victory. They took him, flogged him and brought him to the commanders in the city, spreading lies that Rylan had begun to talk about an uprising against Vel Anir, so the 'loyal' soldiers attacked him and the men who had stayed on the side of the Captain, killing the threat and bringing in the outlaw. So, the Noble Houses ordered him exiled, stripped of all titles and the discontinuation of his service.

That wasn't all Rylan had to endure from his so-called home, as his exiled sentence was brought forth in a different scheme. They put him on a ship and brought him far out in the ocean where he could not see land and was thrown overboard. Rylan swam for two days, resting on planks of wood from ships who met their demise at open sea. Finally, he had made it to shore at what he believed to be the opening of the Baal-Asha River, starved and naked, save for his trousers. He continued on, looking for a source of food and water in the forests of wherever he landed. His luck began to turn when he met a young woman who had sheltered him for a few weeks, giving him food, clothes and rest. For this, he owed her a great debt and he meant to pay her back, so he took on jobs around the tiny village, paying off his debt little-by-little. Eventually, he slowly worked his debt off and became a predominant part of the community. He built many of the buildings that now littered the hills and bought himself a set of nice black leather armor and a long sword. Rylan established a small guard center in the middle of the village and saw to the training of a decently sized, but well equipped town guard. With this, they were able to defend themselves from the Kivren raiders that would attempt to take over the village and its supplies once the waters grew warmer. Rylan decided that his debt to the village was finally paid and left the village to go do what he needs to do to survive, but also enact his revenge on the men who caused this in the first place. The next day, he wished the villagers the best of luck and took off to the closest city to work in. Which happened to be Vel Anir. Deciding against returning so shortly after his betrayal, Rylan marched his way to Elbion.

Rylan would eventually make his way up to the city and began to do what he does best; kill, protect, plan or train. Whatever his clients asked, he had done. This led to a good amount of money to fill his pockets, but eventually learned that living in the city grew too expensive. So, he set out to find a nearby village to live in and just make his trip into the city to meet clients and accept bounties. All of the villages were pretty distant from the city, so he asked about for anywhere he could stay for cheap. Nearly everyone he asked had told him the same answer. 'There is an old run down fort that isn't too far outside the gates,' was told to him countless times. So he set out to inspect it. When he arrived, it was in the middle of a forest with large overgrowth over most buildings. Rylan didn't like what he saw, however, he had no other choice. He took residency in the Hold and slowly made his fixes on the building in between his time selling his sword.
