Basic Details
Name: Mirrilyne Tahn'irve (Mirri)
Species: Komodi
Age: 34 (in komodi years. I'm not sure what the rate of aging entails exactly, so in actual years of being alive, about 55)
Height: 6 feet and three inches
Weight: 157 lbs.
Hair: Curly shoulder-length; deep brown with crimson highlights
Eyes: Deep amber
Skin: Dark grayish-brown
Personal Details
Occupation: Mercenary (part-time storyteller)
Place of Birth: In a small village, called Olomori, near the outskirts of Vel Anir.
Affiliation: Used to serve the guard unit from Olomori, and holds some connection with their ranks, but left, so she is now technically independent.
Home: Inns and campfires
Aliases: Magicka's Knave (in Olomori), Obduration
Appearance
Mirrilyne is known to mostly wear light leather armor with a dark cloak, but on special occasions or in areas where she must blend in, mildly colorful dresses with swirling patterns. She carries herself with an air of professionalism, her head held high, and is afraid to act "softly", for she thinks she must maintain a stronger image than others to be taken seriously and not regarded as the knave her alias represents her to be. She stands out, most of the time, though, even in groups of her own kind, as she has not two horns, but nine. They are too short to be used as weapons, but are used sometimes as sacrifice for her fire magic.
Skills and Abilities
Mirri is capable of manipulating some limited forms of pyromancy, passed down through her bloodline. She uses it only in dire situations, as her mother died trying to evade the Herald after casting a spell that caused an explosion, decimating a tiny local colony of kavosh that were allegedly stole from her (see backstory). As for her more mundane talents, she is very skilled in melee combat, her favorite style being dual-wielding scimitars, but has the archery skill of an elderly snail. A less practical skill, but a skill all the same that she possesses is singing. She has a strong, commandeering, and feminine voice, and that carries over to her excellent musical ability. For an example of what I think she would sound like, go here:
Personality
As mentioned previously, Mirrilyne is remarkably proud, confident, and intimidating, but in no way is she self-assured. Her stony facade is one kept up rather tediously, as she is in reality very sensitive and surprisingly impressionable, despite her perceived "hardened" outlook on the world.
Biography & Lore
The life of Mirrilyne Than'irve was and continues to be a rather peculiar one. It began in the latter portion of the dry season, within a haphazardly painted, domed hut between the center and the outskirts of Olomori. Her father, Najin Than'irve, was one of respectably mediocre reputation, working as a blacksmith in the settlement's heart. Her mother, Kallista Than'irve, however, was, depending on the individual, regarded with awe or disgust. She was a famed mage (in Olomori, that is, which isn't saying much), who specialized in pyromancy, fire magic. She boasted greatly about how she could cast powerful incantations while only having to sacrifice a small thing, such as a nice pen disappearing, or a household cat getting lost for a few days. A conflict that would later lead to her mother's demise was persistent throughout her childhood, existing as a small band of kavosh on the outksirts of the town populated mostly by komodi and nazrani. They would take routine raids of the town, working enchantments and spells discreet enough to escape the notice of the townsfolk, but noticeable enough to cause havoc. This was caused by a deed Kallista had inflicted upon these kavosh decades before, desecrating their former city's arcane college by casting an illusion of a giant dragon because she wrongly suspected the college's valedictorian of stealing her prized possesion, her grandfather's casting focus, a valuable garnet. In Olomori, many years later, she got her revenge on the kavosh again by uncovering their camp outside the village and casting a pantagruelian explosion spell, sending the place up in flames. Horrified by the price she knew she would have to pay, she tried to flee from the site, but the Herald caught her and sent her to Death when Mirrilyne was eleven. This left Mirrilyne terrified to use her natural gift for fire magic, and overall very resentful of magic. As she grew up, her town's culture was slowly becoming more militarized, reflecting the rigid structure of the neighboring city, Vel Anir. She learned from her best friend, Farinth, how to fight in close combat, and adopted the use of twin scimitars after her father gave them to her on her eighteenth birthday. Not much later, she joined her father in the forge, but didn't possess his talent for weapon-smithing. She left the forge to join the town guard, and was delighted to find her childhood friend Farinth there as well. They worked together for five years, keeping Olomori (relatively) safe, and eventually developed a bond stronger than a platonic one. This shocked Farinth's parents, as they were not used to two women in a romantic relationship. Mirrilyne became restless in Olormori after around thirty years of living, she left her hometown for good. Farinth came with her, eager to escape the settlement that now alienated her. They began work as mercenaries, as they were adept in combat, and all was going well until about their tenth bounty. A slaver group ambushed them, and they narrowly escaped, Mirrilyne forced to use her fire magic to drive them away. Farinth was aghast, and left Mirrilyne due to the harsh stigma in Olomori about magicka. Heartborken, Mirrilyne set out again in the world, spinning tales of joy, sorrow, whimsicality, and morality. Developing her skill, she thirsted for more exciting stories, and became more adventurous in her travels, and is know simply exploring the land around her.
