Born to the nobility of two lands - a Cortosi mother and an Anirian father - Mikel might have brought the two lands closer together, until they discovered Mikel possessed the gift of magic. His father, a mere knight, could not stop what came next. They took Mikel from his family and raised him in the Academy of The Dreadlords of Vel Anir. There, he endured torture and indoctrination.

Mikel proved a capable swordsman, yet displayed an exceptionally powerful ability with telekinesis. After killing one of his friends in the final initiation rite atop the Academy, he became a fully fledged dreadlord and pledged himself to House Urahil.

Years later, the Urahils sent him to hunt down a vampire. He returned, but seemed far more reclusive. Eventually, he murdered one of the Urahils and fled Vel Anir. He has not been heard from since.

A strange alchemist maester in Elbion, Urberus, claims to have seen Mikel years ago, but his only recollection of the meeting is what he scribbled down on parchment.
