Though he has forgotten his original name, Lash was born in the southern Nordenfiir settlement of Indeholm.

Unfortunately he remembers little of his previously life, save for the face of his mother and the words of his father. What scant few scraps remain are glimpses of himself playing with a large boar, wrestling his siblings in the muck, and running away from one of the Village Elders after he had stolen a loaf of bread.

In truth, his greatest memory of home is the day he was taken.

At Seven years old the young boy was taken by his father out to sea. Their journey was to be a short one, a simple fishing trip that would let him see something beyond the mountains and valleys of his home.

Unfortunately the journey did not go as planned. A storm struck unexpectedly, rolling out from the oceans and catching the small fishing boat before they could make it back to land. The two were driven far out into the ocean, pulled out away from the Tundra and stranded where they could not return. For days they floated, on the edge of death, until finally a ship found them.

Thought saved, the two quickly learned their folly was the vessel was revealed to be crewed by a group of Blight Orcs.

Lash's father fought with utter brutality, taking on the form of his Svalen and slaughtering dozens of Orcs before he was eventually brought down by blade and arrow. Not yet passed his eighth name-day Lash could not put up the same fight, and was quickly subdued.

After watching his father die, he became a shell.

The Captain of the Ship saw the value in taking one of the great bears of the north and thus brought the boy back to the Blightlands. There he was taken back to Molthal, and swiftly given to one of the sons of Menalus as a gift. Jehin, the Butcher of Molthal took hold of the lad and his future.

Here the boy was raised, experimented upon, and coerced.

For the next five years of his life Lash was constantly tortured and beaten. Each 'session' was brought on him with the intent of bringing forth his Svalen, a test he had to endure to take on his 'true' form. Each time however the test failed, and Lash was thrown back into a cell.

After nearly eight years of constant brutality Jehin found a solution, something that would surely bring about the transformation he sought.

One day, as he slept, A lycan was thrown into Lash's cell.

As the full moon rose the woman transformed, her lithe forming turning into a beastly wolf. The creature, even chained, mauled Lash badly enough that his blood all but soaked the floor of his cell. A bloody wreck and ruin, the boy nearly died, saved only by some unseen blessing.

It was only days later that the effects of what had happened became clear.

His wounds healed faster than they should have, his body grew stronger, and in his rage the transformation became clear.

Provoked just days after his mauling, Lash found not the Svalen of his kin, but a twisted and broken ursine lurking within him. Standing upon two legs, muscled, and with rage at it's core the great bear that ripped apart his flesh from within tore into the Orc guards that had taunted him.

Within weeks it became clear that the effects of the Lycan's bite had held some sort of effect, though just what never became truly clear. The moon held sway over the young man's transformation, yet the heart of his people still lay within him, and Lash because an incredibly dangerous within the cells of Molthal.

After two more years of torture, of being poked and prodded, the son of Menalus offered the boy a deal; Service for freedom.

He would be bound. Pulled from the cells and marked with the brand of the Great Fire-Giant. Yet he would be allowed to wander the Blight, as long as he served. Having no known life save for that of pain, Lash took the bargain, desperate to seek light and life beyond that of the cold dungeon which had contained him for so long.

Thus he took his place within the armies of Menalus. There he served for five years, fighting alongside Orcs, ogres, and other twisted beings. He helped in the sacking of towns, the raids of villages, and the conquest of cities.

Until he saw his chance.
