Grul is a wandering witch doctor who is looking to gather as much magical knowledge as he can possibly get his hands on. He is a decent healer though that is mainly due to his medical knowledge and potions, because while he knows some healing magic most of his magic is a variety of different spells most focusing on utility or combat. His potions can have a variety of effects though none of them are directly offensive. He has a terrible bedside manner, can come off as prickly but he actually has a very caring heart. He has a tendency to focus one one thing at a time and so he tends to get tunnel vision. While he has tamped down his kinds mischievous nature a lot with his willpower he can't help but to do harmless mischief every once in a while, as an example he may take something from someone only to then place it back in a slightly different place. He has been to many places and seen many things and yet he's still extremely curious about everything he sees.

Appearance

Grul stands at 2 ft 6 in and has a very lean muscular frame this is due to him doing a lot of walking and traveling and because he forgets to eat every now and then. He has quite a few scars across his body and he has a pattern on his face drawn in red dye from a blend of herbs and berries he carries with him. His clothes tend to be a bit more on the worn side, with multiple patches. They also tend to have plenty of pockets and hidden compartments. He wears multiple different pouches and a bandolier with pouches along with two satchels and a backpack. He carries with him a walking stick with multiple different trinkets tied to it with twine and bits of leather and rope. These are things from pretty feathers, shiny rocks, or even bones. His eyes are a yellow color though would not seen from shadows and then direct light they tend to look more golden than bright yellow. His skin is a deep earthy Brown that seems to blend in perfectly with most types of dirt.

Skills and Abilities

Alchemy- he can craft many different types of potions, poisons, tonics, powders, and elixirs. However these take time and while he can make them ahead of time they require time and ingredients. And the more rushed he is the larger a chance of a potion having some unintended side effect.
Medical knowledge-basic first aid and an understanding of how to treat injuries and wounds and how to make medicine from non-magical means. He can so shut a cut and reset and splint a broken limb.
Magic-while he is decently powerful he is not a powerhouse his talent comes in his versatility of magic rather than his sheer power as he has learned many different spells, curses, rituals, and charms in his travels.
Magic trinket creation- through his travels and because of his mentors origin as a witch he has learned to create minor enchantments on trinkets. They are not very powerful and only last a few days at most however they are small and inconspicuous. They do however take time to enchant.
Bush craft-he understands how to survive in the wilds and how to do so efficiently.
Knife fighting-he knows how to fight with a knife and he uses his small frame and lean physique to deliver quick fast strikes however he is no brawler and so while he's decent at dodging if he gets hit it will not be good.
Herbology-he can identify plants and fungi and their properties both medicinal, alchemical, and whether they are poisonous or edible.

Personality

Grul is a prickly fellow and is gruff in his mannerisms but if you can get past his rough exterior he is very caring, kind, and loyal friend. He can be a bit stubborn at times and tends to focus too much on one thing at a time and can easily overwork himself if someone doesn't remind him to take a break. He has bouts of mischievousness but otherwise keeps his mischievous nature under wraps due to it having backfired and caused problems for him in the past. He has a soft spot for animals and we'll go out of his way to help them if he can. He has a fascination with magic and alchemy that borderlines when obsession that is only matched by his tendency to pick up random things he finds interesting whether they be small statues he buys from stores or just a particularly weird shaped or shiny Rock.

Biography & Lore

Grul grew up in crossroad Mire and was despite the shadier side of his hometown a very joyful and kind boy, if a little mischievous. His parents who were the local Tanner and fisherman tended to also unbeknownst to their son help move packages for less than savory individuals. Due to their talent in this and the fact that they never betrayed their clients they had quite a good reputation and this led to Grul growing up not having to be afraid of the more shadier elements of the town because of the respect his parents had from those sorts.

His fascination with magic soon came about because of his proximity to it in crossroads Mire. And soon this fascination developed into an almost obsession like focus. While his parents knew a little bit of magic to make their jobs both public and private much easier they were no experts. However being that they were actually decent parents despite their choice of occupation they encouraged his interest in the arcane arts. And this served to nurture his curiosity and fascination even further.

Grul spent most of his allowance and any money he got from chores or odd jobs he took for neighbors on lessons from a witch named Helen. Though she was a bit standoffish at first when he started learning from her as they spent more time together they soon grew closer due to his unbridled curiosity and kind heart. She became a mentor and almost second mother to him.

Grul learned a lot from her but he was never one to sit still as he was always wandering around in the mire exploring and getting into trouble. Helen had often had talks with him where he discussed going out and seeing the world and discovering as much as he could of all the different magic and the lore in it. And so since she knew she couldn't talk him out of it she instead convinced him to two days a week go to other people too get some practical skills for surviving out in the world.

He learned survival skills im how to hunt and survive in the wilderness from a local poacher. He learned first aid and ways to help heal a sickness or injury without magic or alchemy from a local saw bones. He even learned how to use a knife from a local Street tough Helen had 'convinced' to give him lessons.

And then he turned of age and left the town of crossroads Mire and ventured into the world. He quickly learned that not everyone was as understanding of his kinds mischievous nature after a few encounters outside of his hometown and so he quickly learned how to tamp down his mischievous instincts. And though on the outside through multiple different bad encounters with less than savory individuals he developed a tougher and outwardly prickly and rough demeanor. However even the bad experience never got to truly change him simply making him adapt how he presented himself to outsiders.
