Appearance

Slight and delicate, Emmeril is a lady of the court of Harth. While she'd never been said to be the most beautiful woman of the Kingdom, certainly she was easy on the eyes. She is lean and straight-bodied, sporting less curves than most women her age, and gained no favor with the wild green of her eyes and the unruly waves of her black hair. Lurid and tempestuous, much like the sea, there were whispers amidst the court that she was cursed at birth - the death of her mother during labor didn't help. She holds herself with a manor of quieted pride and learned regality - incapable of masking her emotions much as they are want to display openly to the public at large.

Skills and Abilities

As a proper lady of the Court, Emmeril is quite gifted in skills pertaining to the womanly arts. Sewing, singing, playing the harp, biting her tongue, and putting on the face of pleasantry as was necessary.

Personality

Her's is a movement and manner like a siege ship cutting through the fury of ocean; she finds the path of least resistance and carves her way through it. The court, that is. Emmeril hasn't the figure for battle and her means is often that of escape rather than confrontation. Quiet is her nature as a woman living within a world ruled by men. Though intelligent, Emmeril was given no reason to believe she had within her the very tools and weapons necessary to get what she wanted out of life. She was trained from infancy to bend and mind, no matter what inner turmoil may be reflected upon the protocol of the Court.

Biography & Lore

The last of seven children to Lord and Lady Vaylor and the only daughter, Emmeril's introduction to this world was marked by death and misfortune. Her mother, Lady Mireille, died giving birth to her and her father, Lord Atticus, despised her for it. She grew under his relentless heel and spite, finding her only redeeming quality being that of betrothal to a King's son in a neighboring Kingdom.

The saving grace of her life was the King of Harth, her uncle, who had never had a daughter of his own and did adore her so. He welcomed her to Court at the age of 16 and she lived at the Palace of Harth for many years. There she made friends and even the throes of young love with a noble named Torrence Armistead, something that would not last. A betrothal to the neighboring Kingdom of Balta and Prince Devyn was to solidify the newly formed bonds of alliance after many decades of war.

For many, this may have been seen as the opportunity of a lifetime and a chance to live in a dream, and at first it did seem this way. Yet shortly after the wedding the farce of the dream very quickly unraveled and Emmeril discovered a new form of hell. Devyn was a monstrous man - the third in line for the throne with a great deal of jealousy for his eldest brother and anger at the terms of peace his marriage signified. Devyn was happiest on the battlefield, cleaving his enemies in two and spilling the blood of guilty and innocent alike. He craved power above all and saw his wife as nothing more than a reminder of his place. Their relationship is ... unhealthy.
