Appearance
Tall and muscular, Canus' youthful appearance is slightly at odds with his prematurely graying hair. He is clean shaven and keeps in peak physical shape preferring his legionary uniform over more civilian garb.

Skills and Abilities
Canus is primarily a soldier having dreamt of a life in Aquilia's legions from an early age. His family status ensured a solid foundation in politics as well, but his heart and focus was fighting. Skilled with blade and shield, he learned tactics from many of the best tutors available and knows how to lead men on the field: from the front.

Personality
Blunt and to the point, Canus isn't always the most tactful individual which is a constant irritation to the more politically oriented of his family. He is loyal to his nation, his men, and to his family - often in that order - and has an unshakable faith in the Republic of Cipra. He is known for bravery and coolness in combat, but often takes risks more seasoned commanders and soldiers would avoid.

Biography & Lore
Born into the Nerva family, an older Aquilian family with deep political ties to the Senate, Canus was initially groomed to take his father's place as Senator. From a young age, however, he had different plans. Canus' mother raised him on stories of Aquilian heroes and the long litany of Legion campaigns, mighty victories, and tragic defeats. For every hour spent learning Cipran politics and the Republic's history, he would spend two training and reading the latest tactical treatises fresh from the field.

As he grew older his desire to join the legion became stronger, so much so that he attempted to enlist under a false name as a teenager. His ruse was discovered, however, when he was recognized by a passing Tribune, much to his disappointment. After his father's death a short year later, he realized a future as a Senator was inevitable, but perhaps could be delayed.

He accepted his seat within the Senate as a junior member, but also spoke frequently with his uncle, a senior member of the Senate with more influence. After a great deal of convincing, he persuaded his uncle to allow him to finally join the legion, arguing that doing so would bring honor to the family name and round out his education. Seeing an opportunity to potentially strengthen the Republic, but also the possibilities of strengthening his own future bids for Consul, his uncle agreed. The matter was briefly debated in the Cipran Senate and Canus was assigned as Tribune to the primarily Aquilian Legio II where he currently serves today.
