Argós Tardus, or simply Argós, is a granite golem of mysterious origins that is constantly traveling for survival.

Overview

Argós is a golem who has no fixed home. Sometimes, he stays in non-colonized areas such as forests and alike, collecting important and rare resources that will later be sold in urban centers. He'll often construct a non-permanent base that will be able to reside him for one week or more. After some time, he moves to cities and villages, in which he sells the valuable items he's found during his last stay in the wilds. The money is then spent in temporary stays in taverns or hostels and in the acquisition of goods that are necessary (food, basic materials) or have some sort of significance to him (books). After the money ends, he returns to the wilds, and the cycle repeats with more or less variations.
It's possible for him to spend more time than usual in nature (three weeks or more) due to environmental advantages such as easy access to food and lack of predators. In urban scenarios, Argós can also go beyond just purely stay in the city and go to libraries or enjoy local pleasures and festivities. He can also do jobs and perform quests, which can delay his eventual exit from the city.
The golem's constant traveling from place to place and his relative "insignificance" in the societies that are visited result in Argós being a not-well known person. In some cases, he can become some sort of local legend, due to his uniqueness as a traveling golem, who appear to be quite rare in the world of Arethil.

Physiology & Appearance

Argós' body resembles that of an anthropomorphic masculine form, possessing the usual combination of limbs that a typical human would have. The golem's head is the one part of the body that stands out, having only one eye, a big mouth with sharp "teeth" and spikes on the top of the head and under the jaw/on the chin, where the first spikes are smaller than the latter ones.
Argós is made out of granite. His body has a coarse-grained, crystalline texture, where the minerals all have small, equal sizes and form irregular surfaces with edges that are more pronounced than those of the average human skin. Said irregularity happens because the granite hasn't been "leveled" out, as it happens with kitchen countertops.
Because his body is made out of granite, Argós is able to sustain heavy external pressure/weight and is very strong. In fact, Argós can carry weights and cause damage via attacks with a capacity that is multiple of that of an average human. However, his body can also go under the process of weathering, which commonly make the granite wear out or crack. Big enough impacts, such as those from great falls or from strong opponents, can cause greater fissures and make pieces of granite break.
The density of granite makes Argós a very heavy creature. This translates into louder than normal footsteps and in a midly slower walking pace. This doesn't mean the golem can't run; but it does interfere in stealth. The high mass of the golem could also allow him to use big weapons and tools and lift great amounts of mass in general without losing balance.
Inside of his granite body, Argós is powered by a magical substance called "aithéras". The instance where it can seen is in his eye, as aithéras forms its' shiny pupil. Aithéras gives the golem a level of conscience parallel to other humanoids, working as the "soul" which gives life to his granite shell.
Even though the way it works is mysterious, aithéras' mechanisms allow Argós to behave as if he has the biological systems of an organic creature; the golem can digest food or process external stimuli as much he can suffer from dangers such as viruses or starvation. Aithéras, through unknown magic, can also repair damage on his body by creating more granite, having a similar capacity to heal wounds than that of a typical human's coagulation process. Aitherás can also go through the effects of potions and buffs.
Overall, Argós' body and aithéras don't undergo through the process of ageing. For him, there is no such a thing as childhood, adolescence or adulthood, though it can be understood as if he's in an eternal state of adulthood. Therefore, there's no limit to the golem's life expectancy. Argós will die when his granite body fully break and/or the aithéras leaves it.

Equipment & Storage

Argós' current tools/weapons include:
- A big one-handed iron axe which, due to its' size and sharpness, is used both for attacking and cutting wood;
- A big pickaxe which is not good at mining small ores, but fantastic at extracting big quantities of minerals;
- A lantern which consists of a candle trapped within a metallic shell.
Argós currently stores his items in a big black backpack sack that is able to carry up to ~22.6796185 kg/50 lbs. Other sacks of somewhat similar capacities are used, but his main items often stay only in his backpack sack.
Argós doesn't have any armor, as his stone-made body is very resilient and, in a way, works as a natural armor against attacks.

Perks

Due to being made out of granite, Argós is able to sustain heavy damage and lift weights up to 100 kg/~220.4623 lbs. However, Argós can suffer the effects of weathering on his body, which can create small fractures or wear the granite out slowly. He is also slower than an average human.
Beyond his natural abilities, Argós has developed substantial skills in areas such as fighting - being very good at using his greataxe - and manufacturing - being very good at crafting essential items and structures to survival - due to his years spent in the wilds. Being a really curious and thoughtful person, he has also dedicated a lot of time and effort in gaining knowledge, resulting in a level of wisdom that is somewhat above the average person and below the actual masters.
