Appearance and Equipment

* Short, chin-length blonde hair, bright gray eyes, fair skin, 5'8", build toned from years of hard labor, notably large bust size.

* Usually clad in full plate armor, shining steel with gold-tinted trim, ornately designed. Wears a deep blue arming dress under her armor, the skirt of which hangs out from the bottom of her cuirass and over her faulds--ornate designs also line the trim of the dress. Also wears arming pants of the same deep blue color.

* Usually armed with her Celestial longsword and heater shield. Her Celestial longsword enables attacks against her favored enemies who would otherwise be immune to physical strikes--no special effect against other enemies (i.e. a regular mage turned incorporeal). Has on her belt a cat o' nine tails whip, to flagellate herself. Wears also a mundane Amulet of the Goddess Astra.

* Gifted a familiar from Havilah

Skills and Abilities

All skills, to include Blessings, require a prerequisite amount of floggings--self-inflicted pain upon her body--stored up to activate. Her Aura of Light is the cheapest, blessings moderate, Holy Shield/Smite highest cost.

Blessings: Once per day per Blessing, Jane may lay her hands upon another (only another, she cannot Bless herself) and bestow the temporary boon of a specific god or goddess of Celestialism. The effect differs with each god/goddess invoked:

Blessing of Astra: ??? (Not yet earned)
Blessing of Aionus: bestows a moderate alleviation of arcane fatigue (allowing the recipient to cast more spells) and a moderate surge of magical potency for these spells.
Blessing of Drakon: bestows a moderate augmentation of strength and speed.
Blessing of Tychan: bestows a divine shield that will nullify one attack or spell against the protected.
Blessing of Metisa: bestows moderate healing of wounds and injuries.
Blessing of Nykios: bestows an imbuement of holy power (similar to Smite) to the recipient's weapon.

Smite: A skill bestowed upon her by the Redeemer, Jane may imbue her Celestial longsword with holy energy that is of particular potency against undead, demons, practitioners of/things tainted by Dark Magic, spawns/followers of the Dark Ones--her favored enemies. Her sword crackles with golden energy during this augmentation, enhancing her strikes with a devastating, explosive quality against these favored enemies. Weak against all other foes.

Holy Shield: Another skill--bestowed upon Jane by the Redeemer--that offers increased protection against physical and magical assaults by enhancing the strength of her heater shield. While active, a bash with the shield discharges crackling holy energy into her foe; will definitely stun favored enemies, and may potentially stun non-favored enemies. This discharge must be allowed some moments to recharge after a use. The rim of the shield glows with white light while active.

Aura of Light: A skill of utility and clarity mysteriously bestowed upon Jane upon her first righteous kill, she may emit a radiant aura of white light about her person and about the ground she treads upon, casting away darkness and bringing those that hide in it to her (and her allies') sight.

Seal of Nykios: Etched upon her beating heart, through the invocation of the Redeemer, is the Seal of Nykios. Should Jane "stray too far from the Light," the seal will erupt and kill her instantly. Additionally, provides regeneration for the flesh and muscle of her back only.

Personality and Characteristics

Major

* After her conversion by the Redeemer, she is "attempting" to repent for her myriad past sins. Her tendencies from the past, however, have not gone away. Copious amount of flagellation result from her correcting (or attempting to correct) her numerous shortcomings and failings in this regard.

* A pure sadist. Jane derives sexual pleasure ranging from mild to orgasmic from inflicting pain on others. Absolutely revels in and craves bloodshed. She has strong Hematolagnia, and thus intensely enjoys licking blood off of flesh. Never feels sorry about causing pain, even if it is accidental, the victim innocent. Hates, however, enduring it or causing it to herself--hence it being a suitable punishment.

* Candid, honest, says what she wants to say whenever she wants to say it. Often leads to moments of being crass, tactless, and savage. Cerak At'Thul, especially her time with the Sisters of the Citadel, nurtured such a mentality. Subtlety and nuance were (and still are) casualties to directness.

* Constantly teetering between vile indulgence and forced faithful austerity. Clutches her Amulet of Astra often in throes of anxiety and temptation; sometimes it actually works.

* Incredibly self-centered. But also quite relaxed, non-judgmental, and taking many things with a cool ease.

Minor

+ Likes to invade the personal space of others. Flogs herself for it often.

+ Curses liberally. Flogs herself for it often.

+ Lustful sexual deviant. Flogs herself for it often.

+ Enjoys the pleasures/vices of taverns, gambling rings, fight clubs, and brothels. Flogs herself for it often.

+ Maintains a soft spot for cultists. Flogs herself for it often.

+ Her favorite color is red...flogs herself for it often.

Biography & Lore

The Prostitute

Jane was the unwanted child of a prostitute in Cerak, the squalid and dark town at the base of Cerak At'Thul. Like many such children, Jane was abandoned on the dirty streets and left for dead soon after her birth. The keen slaver, however, is always on the lookout for such abandoned babies, to take them in and raise them up to the age in which they could be usefully sold as slaves. A good price they fetched, these children, for slavery would be all they have known. Generic names are given to them--Jane or John, Michael or Michelle--and no family name.

And Jane has never seen her mother, let alone her father. Her earliest memory was of her new master: the Eunuch.

The Eunuch

Octavian Drellis, "the Eunuch," demanded only one thing of his slaves: their sweat. He was about nothing more than hard-labor under grueling conditions, for there were ships to build and profits to be made. The Eunuch suffered nothing that got in the way of this--even his own sex drive, hence the nickname.

Jane, after years of child slavery, came to his attention for her ruthless willingness to betray (and even punish) her fellow slaves for transgressions against productivity. For this, the Eunuch promoted her to Second Overseer. Then First Overseer, after the former First met with an "accident." Then Jane promoted herself to master by seeing the Eunuch meet with a similar "accident."

But she wasn't interested in boatbuilding or productivity or anything of the sort. No. She was interested in one thing only: murder. The delicious murder of all of the Eunuch's slaves, one by one, discreetly, until none remained. This mildly satisfied her bloodlust, her callous need for vengeance and power.

And this garnered her the attention of the Sisters of the Citadel.

The Sisters

A cult, based on a island separate from Cerak At'Thul in the Black Bay. They believed Alarak to be an incarnation of a Dark One upon Arethil, and sought to offer him propitiations of blood and sacrifice. Jane herself offered her virginity to the "Dark One Alarak" in a blood-drenched ritual of initiation into the Sisters.

Of course, neither the Black Fortress nor the actual Alarak endorsed, or perhaps even truly cared about, the cult of the Sisters. They were yet another crew of pillaging marauders, offering up their cut as was demanded, their religious offerings happening far away and unbeknownst to them.

And raid and pillage the Sisters did. Sacrifices needed to be gathered, their treasures needed to be offered. The touch of the Dark Ones manifested in the most faithful of the Sisters, granting them the wicked power to help carry out these raids. Jane quickly ascended to become one of the most revered among the Sisters.

And it was her ship that the paladin known only as "The Redeemer" assaulted.

The Redeemer

He slew Jane's fellow Sisters, those who were aboard her ship. Found her in the Captain's Quarters. Deflected her powers of the Dark Ones.

And the Redeemer placed a hand wreathed in Astra's brilliant light upon Jane's face.

Until all she saw was white.

And Jane was overcome with boundless awe in that moment.
