Lady Jenavere Calder, née Vellayne, is the daughter of well-to-do merchants and the widow of one baron and mother to another. At 28, she currently serves as chatelaine of Greymere Hall, managing the Calder property in trust for her young son, Osric, until the young baron comes of age following her husband, Edric Calder, Baron Thornholt. Reserved and observant, Jenavere balances courtesy with authority, earning respect more than affection from the villagers, many of whom still see her as a wealthy outsider lording over them. Beneath her composed exterior is a vigilant will shaped by duty, loneliness, and bonds of affection that both bind and transcend her current situation.
