- Name: Dul-Golrod
- Location: South-West of Vel Anir
- Type: Decrepit Old Fortress
Overview
Dul-Golrod or The Citadel was a fortress that was used by Dark Ones in the days of old several decades ago. The fortress was built as a stronghold for it's previous ruler; Lord Carnifex. Carnifex was a dark practitioner of magic and was a vile individual that imprisoned many within these very walls. An older mage by the name of Magnus Altari re-discovered this fortress years later and now uses it as a home.
Appearance
Dul-Golrod was built using rough grey stones to make up the exterior that has held rather well to the elements. Many sections of the stronghold have fallen into the ocean on which it rests on. The Main Keep and The Tower have held up rather well.
The Fortress sits on a natural rock island which is further surrounded by choppy ocean and dagger-like rocks. Behind the fortress are various waterfalls that add into the choppy current of the ocean. A rather high land bridge connects the fortress to the mainland.
Shipwrecks could be seen lying against the rocks, no doubt trying to make it to the fortress many years ago.

History
Dul-Golrod was constructed for Lord Carnifex; whom was a dark priest that preyed on many innocent souls during his lifetime. The location being near Vel Anir was perfect as he and his subjects could capture runaways from Vel Anir to perform nasty experiments.
This much is not known until Magnus Altari discovers this knowledge hidden deep in the fortress itself. Dul- Golrod roughly translates to Keep of the Skull or Skull Keep in Ancient Tongue. After the people of Vel Anir found out that Carnifex was responsible for the abductions and murders, a vast army was sent from the military powerhouse of Vel Anir to kill Carnifex.
A warship tried sailing in to prevent Carnifex from escaping by sea but many lives were lost to the craggy ocean. However it didn't take long for the outnumbered Carnifex to surrender, only to be met by a knight's sword to the head. Carnifex's body was never retrieved from the site..This fortress was only constructed as a launching point for Lord Carnifex's experiments with Vel Anir being close by.
