"... These lies are yours, I've designed just for you, my child. Believe them, you'll be much happier that way..."

Appearance

Gilgamesh appears as a middle-aged man with white hair and white finely trimmed facial hair, a muscular body build but with a noticable limp in his gait for which he relies on a cane and a leg brace.
He has deep blue eyes and his face is expressive, capable of joy and demonic anger alike.

He dresses in fine clothing of black and red, he prefers tailored suits and flowing cloaks, items designed to conceal many weapons and devices. He carries an ornate cane and wears a metal leg brace with joints to allow some reinforced knee motion. It squeals and clicks when he walks.

Amadeus is a far cry from the middle-aged professional merchant and aristocrat.
Amadeus appears as a young man with straight black hair reaching down past his shoulders, deep dark brown eyes verging on black, unblemished pale skin that appears unaccustomed to the rigors of travel, but finely formed with lean musculature, like that of a graceful yet powerful cat. He dresses in fine clothing but hardly as refined as Gilgamesh's tastes.
A single common trait between both Gilgamesh and Amadeus is the severe limp in his right leg, though Amadeus seems to need no assistance walking.

Skills, Abilities and Weaknesses

Poker face: There's not a single lie he could tell without it seeming like he's telling the absolute truth. The webs of lies he spins are so intricate, so layered, so deep, so thorough that the lines between reality and fiction are blurred to nonexistence. Is he a king? Is he a merchant? Is he a con man? Is he a saint? Is he all of these or none of them? Is this even truly him standing in front of me?

Combat: He's skilled in hand-to-hand and armed combat, though he mostly uses his cane to fight. He has a very stationary fighting style, preferring to find a central location and not to move too much due to his crippled leg. He fights like he has a complete awareness of the battlefield and everything around him, flanking him is nigh impossible as he thrives on taking on multiple opponents at once from all sides.

Demonic Shadows: He possesses a power that appears similar to umbra-mancy, the manipulation of shadows. But he doesn't require any shadows to be present for him to summon this darkness. It's a power born from himself, and it takes whatever shape he wishes, even if he chooses for it to be invisible.

Personality

Calm Gilgamesh, stoic Gilgamesh, stiff upper lip Gilgamesh, poker faced Gilgamesh, feels no pain Gilgamesh. He is a unique man, nobody can figure out what he's really thinking, feeling, or planning.
He comes off as someone who may have lost a little to gain much, or even vice versa.

He has much in the way of wealth, influence and power. But those things don't seem to matter to him, what truly does matter to him? What drives him? These are questions for the ages.
He has little in the way of true friends or close companions, yet this also seems trivial to him.

He speaks well and eloquently with a proper accent; he has the culturing and mannerisms of a man of noble birth. But of course, he always plays his cards close to his chest... Is anything anyone sees about him actually real?
He's sly and silver-tongued, wily and cunning, perhaps even an inexplicable charm when it suits him.
But those who know him... Or think they know him... Can sometimes tell when he's not on the level with them... Sometimes...

Biography

Gilgamesh Briarthorne was a smalltime merchant in Elbion. Like many in his profession he was hoping to strike it big and make his own brand... But the poor man had an inexplicable penchant for bad luck.
But what's a story without a mystery? Like a delayed trade run to Alliria and a sudden shift of fortune.
The man, Gilgamesh Briarthorne, originally stepped into the Allirian stage with a golden goose of inexplicable success. He seemed to have begun his humble business as a simple merchant trader with only a single product and only a few silvers to his name, but Alliria was a kind mistress to him.
Opportunities seemed to simply open their doors for him without much effort, rivals stepped out of his way, notoriously hard clients seemed to soften to him.
It was said that anyone who could catch his ear could ask Gilgamesh for a favor, and in return for another favor he will grant it... And it would actually come true!
He became powerful, popular, and wealthy in Alliria which became the new base for his brand, The Cherry Rose.

In the open Gilgamesh was hailed as a rising star in Alliria, hot on the trail of the great merchant king Alanthis himself.
But the Cherry Rose isn't a simple brand, behind his success in legal circles is a domination in the criminal underworld as well, Gilgamesh holds the leash of powerful people in both realms. He runs the Cherry Rose, a crime organization of exclusive yet skillful individuals, and he is a father to them.

But this is just a surface glazing of the deep lie that is the new Gilgamesh Briarthorne. What happened in the wilds between Elbion and Alliria? What changed in the poor unlucky merchant?
Those who looked deeper into the Briarthorne would find nothing, those who dug deeper would find nothing, but those who delved the deepest well beyond what would be prudent for their health and lived... Might learn a first and last name, Amadeus Greywood.
And those who dared to investigate further into the fathomless ocean of lies may live to find an unmarked grave a month's journey away from Alliria... And few would learn anything else... Ever...

Ever since his rise to wealth the mystery has only increased around this man. The rumor mills are abuzz with outlandish theories, but some people report seeing him attending a soiree while he's handling a business meeting at the same time at a totally different location!
This ability to be many places at once is another depth to the sea of falsehood, who is the real Gilgamesh Briarthorne? Does the man have twins? Clones? Was he ever real in the first place? Gilgamesh hasn't been inclined to give comment.

But as for Amadeus... Nobody has seen his face, nobody has heard his voice, few have even heard of him or that he even exists. He's now the ghost in the background, the boogeyman under the bed, the puppeteer behind the stage. Maybe he's just an idea? Maybe he's a myth created to scare people away from a deeper secret? Maybe he's many people?

_______________________________

Amadeus Greywood's story starts back a bit further... Who could really say how long ago...? But his is one with an even greater mystery unknown to all except himself.

Awakening alone and in a forest somewhere between Elbion and Alliria, fully formed and grown yet bare as an infant without a single marker or trace to tell how he came to be there. One who lived to learn this much of his tale might suspect that he was left there without memories of his past, fresh and new to the wide and wonderful world!
but he wasn't without his memories, he knew exactly who he was, how he came to be here, and what he set out to do.

He came upon the hapless caravan of the struggling Cherry Rose a naked stranger, with Gilgamesh at the reigns. He spoke at great length with the simple-minded Gilgamesh, they talked long over the next week about many things until the stranger eventually offered the poor man a deal, a favor for a favor.
The desperate yet naive merchant wished only for his brand to become successful and wealthy. A wish that the naked stranger promised to grant, and in return he took a soul, buried the body deep in the woods, and then took his name and face and traveled the rest of the way to Alliria.
