Some people grow up with a loving family, they see their parents grow old, siblings by their side, and enough children, nieces, and nephews to open a daycare. Taqsim saw all of those luxuries stripped away from him.

Taqsim's best friend for most of his life was his oldest brother Ishq. After losing both of their parents the two brothers had an inseparable bond and they cared for each other deeply.

When he was twenty Taqsim and his brother Ishq were attacked on the outskirts of Ragash by a band of vampires. They slew Ishq and Taqsim barely escaped with his life. Since that day ten years ago Taqsim has sworn to stamp out crime and the supernatural abominations that haunt the night.

But, what ghosts still linger to haunt Taqsim?

Appearance

Taqsim has dark skin, is physically fit, and typically sports a full beard and mustache. He often covers his head to prevent the harsh sun of the desert from beaming down on him too hard.

He can always be seen wearing his brother Ishq's necklace which is a ruby red amulet shaped like a cactus flower tied to a golden chain. It originally belonged to their mother.

Skills and Abilities

Combat Proficiency - Taqsim is excellent with the spear, scimitar, and is a middling crossbowman. These talents combined make him exceptionally skilled at taking down unnatural, unholy, creatures as well as most criminals who seek to harm the good people of Ragash.

Sibling Spookery - Something happened in the desert that night ten years ago. When the foul beasts drained Ishq's corpse of blood. When he begged for mercy. Now Ishq's ghost sticks around, it's been with Taqsim ever since he retrieved his brother's necklace.

Ishq will frequently talk to Taqsim and can appear to others if Taqsim allows it. Though Ishq cannot interact with the physical world he frequently warns his brother of impending danger or threats he senses on the ethereal plane.

Personality

Angry, brooding, and a narcissistic belief that he is solely responsible for cleansing the world of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and any other supernatural entities that haunt not only the Empire but all of Arethil. The irony of this is not lost on Taqsim.

Biography & Lore

In his early childhood it was just his elder brother Ishq and himself. They got by with their father working as hard as he could to put bread on the table, which meant they rarely saw him. Taqsim's mother had passed during his birth, something his brother and father never held against him but that didn't stop Taqsim from blaming himself.

At eight his father was killed by petty crooks walking home from his shift at a pub. The orphans found themselves adopted out to a family who had served in the city guard for generations and both boys were trained in combat, the laws of Ragash, and how to best keep the peace.

These events instilled in Taqsim a seething hatred for crime and evil doers. He blamed himself for the death of not only his mother but also his father. For not being strong enough to protect his dad, he trained constantly, believing it was his destiny to stamp out any criminal activity within Ragash and the great Empire of Amol-Kalit.

When his brother Ishq and himself entered the service of the city guard the two boys insisted they patrol together and due to their stellar performances during training this request was granted. When they heard reports of strange going-ons just outside the city, of merchants being attacked or going missing, they were the first to respond. What they encountered was a group of sinister vampires preying on the defenseless.

Fearlessly the two brothers attacked the vile scum and not only did they buy enough time to allow the civilians to reach Ragash they killed one or two of the beasts as well. Unfortunately they were ill-prepared for the strength of agitated vampires and the remnants of the clan not only killed Ishq but forced Taqsim down a ravine. They left him for dead but in reality he laid down there, falling unconscious to the screams of his older brother and friend.

For a decade now he has spent his days enforcing the laws of Ragash and spent his night hunting down anything he deems "evil." He has carried out his vigilante justice with the aid of Ishq's ghost. Taqsim knows that if he ever succeeds in his quest to exterminate the supernatural from Arethil the last abomination he'll need to slay will be his brother's ghost.
