"Now thou art Raziel Shirai, for thy purpose shall be to uncover the mysteries of thy being and sing them to the world."

Personality

A quiet but forceful presence, with a deeply inquisitive and thoughtful nature, Raziel keeps both his friends and enemies guessing. While his radiant presence certainly inspires awe in the weak-hearted (OOC note: commoner NPCs), he knows those more hardened folk (OOC note: PCs and major NPCs) will interpret his nature in their own way.

Skills and Abilities

Flight: Gifted with three pairs of white feathered wings, Raziel is capable of flight at high speeds with decent maneuverability. Due to his hollow bones, however, his resilience is hampered somewhat, and the wings impede his mobility in grounded combat (not to mention being big and obvious).
Combat: Raziel's best weapon is a bow, though he can use a sword (albeit not all too well). He is most effective when he can fly and attack from the air at a distance.
Healing Touch: Raziel's touch can channel his energy to heal wounds. This has an energy cost appropriate for a similarly effective spell.
Celestial Magic: Raziel can cause minor effects such as blasts of light, gusts of wind, and loud or spectacular displays of sound and radiance. With more focus and greater energy expenditure, he can empower his allies with protective light and increased strength or speed, weaken his enemies with fatigue or temporary blindness, and even call forth pillars of radiant flame to smite his foes (a taxing spell to cast, so he generally saves this for the bigger fish in the pond).
Radiant Aura: Raziel's presence is almost supernaturally inspiring. Allies near him while he has this ability active are more resilient and have higher morale, allowing them to shake off minor mental attacks and attempts at mind control. Exerting this aura will drain Raziel of energy over time.

Biography & Lore

"I remember not my former name, for that existence matters no longer. I know not who or what gifted me this power, but I shall use it to better the world, in hopes one day that being will tell me more."
Raziel was once a human; in particular, he was a knight-errant who wandered the lands doing minor good deeds, feeling more major heroics were above him. Perhaps it was this humility that earned him the attention of the being that decided to favor him with grace; though he knows not its name, nor its nature, he knows the one thing it told him: his new name and purpose.
It was on a cool windy day that it happened. After treating the wounds of a small child who had fallen and scraped her knee, he had gone off into a field to eat his lunch. As he prepared to sit, the world was suddenly light and warmth and glory and song, and he heard a voice. It told him just one thing: that his name was Raziel Shirai, and he was to uncover the mysteries of the world and reveal them to others. The world then returned to normal, but he did not; the wings on his back were now real.
He had never been a religious person, so he knew not what to make of this; the divine was so distant that he was simply in shock and awe at this strange rise to grace that had befallen him.
The only conclusion that Raziel could draw was that, no matter the nature of what he had become, he certainly could do more good in the world than he had been able to before. And thus, his travels continued. The sideways glances and gaping mouths and behind-the-back whispers he received were bothersome, so he began to steer clear of heavily settled areas, instead greeting the occasional explorer and healing the occasional wounded traveler as he wandered. He also fought enemies more powerful than he had before, monsters that he had been unable to even scratch before were now challenges he could surmount with his newfound power.
And so his journey continues, seemingly with no end, to uncover the secrets of existence and reveal them to the world.
