Following the need to adventure, Lilyth seeks coin and companionship in a world far larger and darker than she is yet prepared for. Born to a wealthy family, which was then shattered on the rocks of penury, Lilyth ended up alone in the wilderness. Found by an unlikely duo and raised among the Wilderkin for years, she re-entered society as a hunter of bounties, mercenary, and well rounded adventurer.

Overview

Physical Description

Lilyth is average height for a human woman, which would put her at a distinct disadvantage were she not devoted to her skills as a warrior. She has copper hair that she keeps long, but often braided up to not prove a boon to her enemies. Her deep blue eyes show her calculating, intelligent nature and hide a will of steel.

Biography

Early Years

Lilyth was born into a wealthy merchant family in Elbion. Her parents made their money in logistics, buying and selling shipments and caravans and funding expeditions. Her early years were happy, as baby Lilyth wanted for nothing. Hard times came to her family shortly after she turned six years old as a string of accidents and deals gone bad took away all of her families wealth. Left with only a wagon to live in, Lilyth's family took to the road to try to rebuild. Tragedy struck when bandits attacked the family, and Lilyth became separated as she ran into the forest.

Wilderkin

Lilyth ran into the woods, leaving behind her family as they were attacked by bandits. She ran as hard as she could for as long as she could, she was a fairly athletic child. When she finally stopped running, she found herself utterly lost. She didn't even know which direction the road had been. She spent two days alone in the woods before being found by a pair of unusual companions, a female Halfling Wizard and a male Gnome Ranger.

The pair took Lilyth to their hollow, though her human nature made it necessary for a second home to be made over the years she stayed with them. From the age of six to the age of twenty, Lilyth stayed with, learned from, and trained with the pair, eventually thinking of them as stand ins for her lost parents.

Niben, the Gnome Ranger, taught her about the forest, how to track, how to fight, and when to fight. From him, Lilyth learned her fighting skills, excelling with bow and sword, but learning at least a bit of everything he tried to teach her. Shaerana, the Halfling Wizard, continued her education in the world, and attempted to teach her collegiate magic, but aside from the simplest cantrips Lilyth was not fertile ground for the arcane lessons.

When Lilyth had been with the pair for about a decade, they let her in on a secret. The two of them were wardens, of a sort, watching that area of the world for a secret, decentralized organization that was oriented to try to better the world. They mostly gathered and disseminated information, but also took direct action against evil when it was necessary. They began to train her in how to participate in that fight, and introduced her to other agents when they had cause to seek them out.

Eventually, though, Lilyth had to leave. She had an itch to see the world, whether it was a buried need to find her parents, a desire to take the work she'd been trained to do on a journey, or to simply see what was over the next rise, none could say. After fourteen summers with her adoptive parents, Lilyth left their woodland home alone and journeyed back into the wider world.

She had gone into that forest as a six year old with a family, and she left it as a twenty year old with a purpose.

A Different Environment

Lilyth returned to Elbion, hoping to find her parents there, even after fourteen years. Her skills in the various environs of the wilderness largely mapped well to life in the city, though she had to train herself to be able to track creatures in an environment that was well trafficked and tended towards large swaths of stone and cobble. Her brief time in Elbion did introduce her to a local guild of thieves who benefited from her skills, and paid her in teaching her more urban ways of tracking foes.

Mercenary

The first lesson Lilyth learned was that life in civilization was expensive. Far more so than living off of the land, as she had been doing for a decade and a half. She had a set of skills, though, that let her be useful to those with coin, and she quickly made a small name for herself in the cities and villages she passed through.

She hunted bounties, proving adept at ferreting out criminals and apprehending them alive. She also sold her sword in more traditional ways, serving in small bands to clear out bandits, or help take and secure a hilltop fortress for one lord or another.

She spent the next few years building up her funds, then spending it on her gear to turn around and make more funds. Means became ends became means once again.

Character

Personality Traits

Loner: Lilyth is self-sufficient, able to take care of herself in the city and in the wilderness. This sometimes causes her to be a bit abrasive with group mates who she feels may be slowing her down.
Eternal Student: Lilyth is constantly trying to learn from the world around her, both to benefit the greater good as she was trained, and for her own vast curiosity.

Skills and Abilities

Bow and Sword: Lilyth is a skilled combatant, capable with bow or sword in her hand, and not entirely horrible with other weapons.
Tracker: Lilyth excelled at tracking creatures in many types of terrain, proving extremely difficult to lose once she has the trail.
Learned: Learning at the feet of a wizard living in a woodland hollow with a ranger proved far more useful than it would sound. She learned traditional schooling, but also skills that were useful for more than school. While she is a master of no subject matter, she is skilled at finding information and processing it quickly for her own uses.
