Kaed is the shadow between the trees at dusk, the eyes of a predator watching from just beyond the firelight. When he sets sights on a target, more often than not he will take it down. He tends not to settle in one place for long and takes to companions when they can be useful to him and he can be useful to them, preferring not to owe any debts.

Some say that Kaed employs magic during his jobs, but if he does he is especially careful to limit it to only what is needful.

Kaed keeps his hair long, often braided back from his face, and a beard that is just a little too long to be well kept. He has nearly white, blue eyes that can pierce to the soul. He is usually found wearing armor, a mixture of leather and chain designed to protect without restricting movement overmuch. He carries several weapons, a hand and a half sword, a pair of long fighting blades, and an assortment of throwing spikes visible on him. Often times he also carries a bow and quiver, though if he is working a job in the city he may leave them behind.

Kaed prefers melee combat, as it feels more proper to him. When he gets in close he fights like a demon, often preferring the pair of fighting blades to his other weapons.

When fighting at range, Kaed prefers a steady, studied approach where he lets arrows fly with precision over speed.

Kaed learned to hunt from an early age, and has spent time with many nomad tribes and Nordenfiir families who sharpened his skills further.

Kaed has long lived with the blessing and curse of Empathy, not only being able to sense the emotions of others but also being able to utilize those emotions to bring into reality certain effects. This is one of the reasons Kaed keeps moving, knowing personally that such as he aren't always welcome.

Kaed is a social loner. He always feels better and acts more human when interacting with people, but he always keeps them at arm's length and often leaves as soon as any specific job is done. He has a tendency to become more feral as he spends time away, a fact he knows well and tries his best to accommodate.

Kaed doesn't remember where he was born or who his parents were. His first memories are emotions of those around him when he was found wandering the forest at ten years old. He was taken in by a nearby town, put into what amounted to an orphanage at the local tavern, and expected to grow up properly. It took Kaed a full turning of the moon before he was out in the woods again, partially being thrown out and partially running. He had unintentionally stolen the emotions of the owner and her wife when they were closing in on being intimate. The tables in the tavern below the rooms slammed into the ceiling with such force that it shook the building to its foundation.

Variations on this happened to Kaed into his late teens, he largely taught himself how to fight and hunt. In his early twenties, he found a sort of home with a bounty hunting crew. By this time he was able to control his empathy far better and didn't cause a giant ruckus when emotions got unexpectedly high. He learned a lot about fighting from that crew, a lot about people, and a lot about cities. This time, when he left, it was on his terms and without leaving behind bad feelings (or a lack of feelings).

Kaed then struck out on his own, selling his sword here and there, sharpening his skills everywhere he went, and slowly feeling out the edges of his magic in ways that wouldn't bring down people to hunt him.
