Overview

Setting

Built on the banks of the wide river Sayve in Northern Allir Reach, the village Grayshore is a quaint piece of simple life that sits on the edge of a great divide. Across the Sayve can be seen the vast expanse of The Spine; a treacherous mountain range. It is here that the fertile fields of the Reach touch shoulders with the imposing rocky crags of Epressa.

The Village

A small cluster of brick buildings make up the center of town, their gray hue owed to the river clay their walls were made from. A simple smithy, the Town Hall, a small inn built over the local tavern, and a colorful, (if impoverished,) marketplace can be found here. The rest of the village is largely made up of shops and residences, mostly made of wood and cobblestone, both cleared from farmland.

Graykeep

Not an hour's walk from the little town, hidden within a copse of aspen trees, sits the derelict ruins of a tower on the shore of the Sayve. Moss and finch have laid claim to the sorry mess of stone, and local children learn at an early age what a poor playground the gray foundation makes. The site does raise some interesting archeological questions, though the simple riverfolk living nearby are ill suited to think of them. The stone appears to have been cut from a mountain quarry in The Spine, but means of transporting that stone seem as illogical as the location itself; the clay of the riverbank makes for a poor foundation. The tower would have been a poor defense situated so far from the town, had it not predated Grayshore by easily a century. If there are deeper secrets to this strange place, they have yet to be uncovered. If they ever were, it would certainly shock the locals, who have decried for years, "It's just a pile of rocks."
