Bewa
Bewa is an aspiring warrior seeking membership in the warmongering religious sect, Onija-Ogun, worshippers of the occult war god, Mshindi. Driven by a desire to be the strongest on the planet, Bewa sets out on his initiation quest to become a fully-fledged warrior, seeking powerful opponents that he can defeat to prove his worth and build his legend.
Background
Bewa was born to a demon mother, Analia, who’d crossed from a different dimension and a human farmer. This familial relationship was short-lived as Antiqam, the demon Bewa’s mother had been previously betrothed to, crossed over and killed both of Bewa’s parents. As an insult, he left Bewa in the wilderness to die, not viewing him as necessary to kill as he was only a toddler. However, Bewa would rely on the heightened instincts and maturity of his demon nature which enabled him to hunt and survive for a few years until he was found by a group of traveling mercenaries, members of the Onija-Ogun religion. One of the men took Bewa with them and when they arrived at their temple, he attempted to sacrifice him to their god. Bewa fought back, killing two men in the process. As the sacrificial altar is not destroyed (as would usually occur if an unsatisfactory sacrifice was made to Mshindi), the warriors of Onija-Ogun accepted Bewa into their ranks and he was raised by them.
Appearance
Bewa is tall, lean, and muscular with notable scars on his body from numerous battles and conflicts throughout his life. He has intense, almost menacing amber eyes that frighten most everyone that he comes into contact with. He has a hieroglyphic sleeve tattoo on his right arm that stretches to his back. Though he typically eschews fancy clothing and things that aren’t practical for combat, he will dress up if the occasion calls for it. When angry or excited, his canine teeth grow longer and his nails extend into claws.
Personality
Bewa is extremely competitive and aggressive, mostly attributed to his demonic nature however, this is due to the extreme situations he found himself in as a child. He’s constantly on edge and prepared to fight as a survival technique. Despite his usual irreverence for things, Bewa is surprisingly respectful of others’ religious beliefs and is a devout Onija himself, praying to Mshindi before every fight he gets in and before bed to protect him. He is not easily angered, regardless of his aggressive displays as they’re usually for show, but he hates to see anyone abused without the means to fight back.
Powers & Abilities
- Demon Physiology - Being a hybrid between a demon and a human, Bewa possesses the advanced, mutated physiology of Demon from the Dahab Ah Plane. While he doesn't possess all of the physical alterations to his body, he does maintain one aspect of the Dahab Ah Demon; the piercing gold eyes.
- Superhuman Strength - Bewa is abnormally strong ever since he was an infant. As a toddler, he overpowered and killed two grown men in defense of himself. As a young man, Bewa is able to block attacks from several large human men easily.
- Superhuman Speed - Bewa's speed is an underrated part of his physicality. His speed is comparable to a large big cat and this extends to his reflexes and reaction time.
- Superhuman Durability - Bewa can survive attacks that would kill a normal human without damage to his body, due to having tougher skin and organs as well as stronger bones.
- Superhuman Senses - Bewa's senses are heightened far beyond that of a normal human. He can track people and creatures by scent or hearing akin to a wolf. His sense of taste allows him to determine the exact ingredients to whatever he consumes. His sense of sight and touch are heightened to the same degree.
- Regenerative Healing Factor - Even though he's durable, Bewa is capable of being injured, however, if he is injured gravely, he can recover much faster than a human. Cuts, slashes, and gouges can be recovered from in minutes while lost limbs usually take a few hours.
- Dahab Ah Instinct - A distinctive mode that Bewa can slip into, this alters Bewa's body to more closely resemble a full-blooded Dahab Ah Demon and allows his body to move completely own. In this mental state, Bewa fights exclusively by instinct, attacking and defending however his demonic brain dictates, therefore he's often not able to differentiate between friend and foe. Bewa isn't able to call upon this state at will, instead his body will lapse if he's sustained too much damage to his body.
Weaknesses
- Metabolism - Because Bewa heals quickly, he needs to eat constantly and heavily so that his body has the energy reserves required to keep him in combat.
- Onija-Ogun Religious Principles - Under the doctrine of his religion, Bewa is restricted from attacking, hurting, or killing an unarmed or unarmored foe unless it is for the purpose of an organized blood sacrifice. The rules are extremely strict and breaking them is punishable by Mshini's Curse.
- Silver - Due to his Dahab Ah physiology, silver is poisonous to him. Damage from such weapons can incapacitate him for days and sometimes weeks depending on the severity of the wound.
- Planal Rules - As Dahab Ah usually live in their eponymous plane, existing in Arethril greatly reduces Bewa's powers as it does any other demon that's crossed the plane. As a result, his power is capped to a certain extent.
Weapons & Equipment
- Hakori - A large tooth with metal serrations coated on the edges, Bewa gained the weapon with his first creature kill and took the broken tooth as a prize. Bewa has outfitted his blade with a metal hilt wrapped in cloth to protect his hands. Hakori is a sturdy sword, able to cut into (but not through) metal armor.
