Thanasis - Near the Sea

"I know." Androl said as he gently patted Erenex's snout, his eyes darting briefly towards the dock where the massive ship lay. "I don't like it either."

A low growl escaped the great Auresh Dragon, his scales seeming to bristle ever so slightly as he shook his head. Clearly dissatisfied with the task that they had been given. Neither of them were particularly prepared for this, and he wished that his father had sent someone else. Androl knew why it had to be done, but he did not know why it had to be him.

"I've never been on a ship either." He contended to the Dragon, though that did not seem to soothe the anger which rolled through it's great growl. A long sigh escaped the young warrior, and he patted Erenex one last time before slowly turning away.

"Come on you big lug." He said as the two began to make their way towards the docks. "At least it's a big ship, they probably have a hold for you and everything."

The words were met with a hard nudge against the small of his back. A push that would have sent him doubling over were it not for the fact that he had expected. He swatted at the dragon behind him, shifting his gait as he made his way towards the ship. Below, sailors and soldiers were already assembling, preparing themselves for the weeks long journey that would see them almost to the other end of Malakath.

It was a journey he was not eager for, and one that should not be taken lightly.

Yet of those assembled, Androl had been told he would be the only one with experience in the wastes. Perhaps that was why it had to be him, though he suspected that his father had motives other than that.

Just what though, he could not have said.

The wind off the sea pressed across her face like a familiar friend. The salt in the air tickled her skin. The scales of her dragon shimmered far below the bow of the ship she stood on. Elbows perched delicately on the rail. A smile curled on her lips

Tempest was showing off again. Her slick, lithe body flipping and curling through the choppy waters of the harbor. A pod of dolphins joining her.

Makani Belavyor glanced up from the book he held beneath his nose tightly. A light sniff, looking to where Kaia's gaze went. "She's such a show-off."

Good-humored gaze turned to the middle Belavyor son. Strange that she sometimes felt closer to him than her own twin, Raimond Thesius, or older brother, Errune Thesius.

"Have you ever met a water dragon that wasn't a show-off?"

"That's a fair point," Mak conceded and went back to reading his book.

Kaia's smile faltered. "Do you think they're sending us to check on the rumors of the growing Jarlax camps?"

There was a long pause before Mak responded. "Doubt it. We're nobles. It's not like they'll put us anywhere too dangerous at least not yet."

Kaia turned her gaze back to Tempest but the smile she had before failed to surface back on her lips. She didin't know if Mak was right. And a feeling in her gut told her he might be wrong. At least they'd be shoving off soon. The ship was a buzz of activity. More navy boarding the gangway. More support troops with their dragons. It would certainly be a full ship.

It was a dangerous mission, too dangerous for Melisandre to get the approval for attending. It was partially due to her time off from the military, but mostly because of her father’s poorly timed moment of being cognizant once again; although this time had been brief, he had subsequently barred Melisandre from going to the Wastes.

A few days later he was secluded in his room, reading the same page of his favorite book over and over as if he hadn’t ever read it thousands of times before. Melisandre wasn’t sure when her father would be cognizant once more, but if there was a pattern to it, which usually there seemed to be one more often than not, while she was away on this mission, she would be back before her father would ever know of it.

Even if he was lucid before she arrived, she was certain he’d forget about it by the time she got back anyways. Besides, it would be hard to punish his only daughter, miles away from Thanasis.

Of course, the hardest part, since she didn’t have any sort of approval from her father or Vhagor or anyone else (if she had told even Raimond she was certain even he would object), was sneaking onboard the ship. And hiding Eryx from view. Not that it wasn’t uncommon to see a dragon about. But Eyrx had a rather distinctive look about her.

Regardless, Melisandre had handled the situation of sneaking onboard the ship and hiding Eryx to the best of her abilities.

Currently, she was hiding herself in a barrel. Eyrx was hiding further along the shore. Once the boat left and was decently away from the shore, her dragon would come. The only thing was that Melisandre had to focus on now was convincing everyone else on board that she would be joining them on this mission as well.

Now to lie or to beg? Which would yield her better results?

It was not long after that the sails caught wind and the ship embarked upon it's voyage. The seas were favorable, or so the captain had told Androl. His time on the wall had made him experienced in matters of monsters, but boats? Well, there was a nearby lake, but that hardly needed sails.

He usually just rowed.

Still, he found the sea air surprisingly pleasant. The sun was shining and the earlier clouds had broken to give way to a clear day. The conditions were perfect for the beginning of their journey, and the slow cut along the shore would soon turn to open ocean.

Androl sat in the Captain's cabin, given to him and one...other passenger home he'd yet to meet. He had no idea who they were, but the Captain's quarters had been partitioned with a simple wall to make what had once been one huge room into two smaller ones.

A silly thing, at least to him.

When he'd been told about all of this he'd expected to be sleeping in the ships berth.

Ah well, he wasn't fool enough to turn down comfort. Better than being some fool stuck in a barrel down in the belly of the ship. As ridiculous as that notion was.
