Rhoe thought they weren't traveling fast enough. Despite the fact that she had been able to make love to Gavin the night before, in all other ways, fear still held her immobile. How come she could make love-, but not walk? She tried to shake herself out of her shock, at first afraid that Gavin would think she was an inconvenience to him, But it didn't do any good. She didn't feel safe anywhere except in his arms. And perhaps the shock of almost dying would have been too much for anyone to get over alone.

Maybe after they got out of Falwood....

For now, she startled easily, waking sweating and panting from fear every so often. And speaking of being asleep, she seemed to have been doing a lot of that today. Her stomach couldn't settle enough to eat, either, so she probably was low on energy. And the whole ordeal seemed to have affected her circadian rhythm, because she was sleeping when she should have been awake and awake when she should have been asleep. Rhoe knew there were witches who practiced their magic at night and were therefore used to staying up late, but she wasn't one of them.

For now, she'd enjoy getting to know Gavin for as long as she was awake, How nice it felt to snuggle into his chest last night, and how uncomfortable his breastplate was now- though she knew better than to complain, lest she not be allowed to be carried anymore- were two of what few things she knew about him. His integrity was another. And his beautiful blue eyes, and the way he'd made her feel last night- protected, safe, and passionate- were two more.
No, she'd be fine. Rhoe still felt terribly tense, but she also realized that the more slowly they traveled, the more time they'd have to learn about each other.

For now, she was torn between fighting sleep and watching the familiar scenery of the forest pass by. She sighed, feeling lazy, but mostly content. And it would remain that way as long as someone didn't potentially try to take her away. She still worried that she might run into someone who wasn't on her side, but all seemed peaceful for the moment.
