Arc felt the sand of the forbidden city move under her feet. It was a weird sensation and felt like the earth itself was giving way to her tiny frame. The blind cafe owner, though she could make alot of things with what she could aquire near Aliria, had to travel from time to time to go and get some more rare items for her drinks and other foods.

What was she on the hunt for today? A rare relic plant that is said to help any ailment but also tasted absolutely divine. Something which she had to get herself! Imagine all the people she might be able to help with food and drinks with the plant in it? She guaranteed a lot.

But even if she couldn’t find the plant she was looking for, the Forbidden City still had a lot of herbs and plants that could be used which have already dried in the desert’s hot baking sun.

Lost in thought the young woman yelps and she slides down a sand dun then laughs as she gets to the bottom on her butt. This was a fun venture and hopefully it wouldnt be interupted by those Empire things she has heard about or an unexpected guest. She would just freeze them if she had to. All in the name of her cafe.

The Forbidden City. It's vast ruins of a once mighty civilization were so named for a reason. But according to some local reports, it's become even more so in the last three years. Treasure hunters, adventurers, and dungeon delvers rarely came here anymore. But some people from the nearest village occasionally take a look at the city to make sure nothing too evil is about to spill out.

Reports of unknown monsters, a new kind of beast that comes in a swarm, eventually reached the desk of Grand Khordon, Maester of the Fourth Order in the college of Elbion.
Wanting to see proof of this for himself he took the portal stones and then went on foot to the Forbidden City.
He'd come here before when he was younger, maybe thirty years ago. It seemed to not have changed much in that time frame. The desert sand storms were diligent in scouring the sun bleached stones to shining perfection. Great stone buildings rose and fell to various degrees in the shifting sand, now tombs and mausoleums, homes to monsters and undead who've chosen this place to make their lairs.

Grand walked along the sandy roads between the great buildings, occasionally cobblestone road would peak up from beneath the surface and his great staff would tap against the stones.
He wore a grey robe, a similarly colored cloak, a pointy hat with a wide brim, and a backpack laden with supplies. He had a short sword and a dagger on his belt, but otherwise his only weapon was his staff and magic.

For now he's only just entered the outskirts of the city. From time to time he can see through the buildings out into the open desert.
As he was passing one such alley he heard a yelp and the sound of sand falling.
He looked over to see a young woman laughing at the bottom of the dune. He had to chuckle himself, like old people do at the antics of the young, and approached her still chuckling.
"Seems a surer foot would serve you better lass. What brings you to the Forbidden City?"

If he might be so bold; fuck the Forbidden City.

Seriously, there was a reason why it was Forbidden and it likely had everything to do with how bloody awful it was here all the gods-damned time. He had come here, after being paid a lot of good money, to protect some wandering scholar-type and now the man had turned into an absolutely bloody madman.

As in chuckling at nothing and chatting to himself kind of madman, not the kind to be fun at parties unfortunately. Muttering angrily to himself as he led the now-insane man along through the sand by the lead he had fashioned from the man's leather backpack, Alexios tried his best to look on the bright side.

... at least it wasn't raining!

And no, not even the power of tempting fate itself could help relieve this damned-able heat with the brief respite that rain would have been! Not that he'd banked on that working of course. Naturally he was half-dragging the deranged madman that had been his client round the corner when he heard laughing.

"Well I'm glad somebody is enjoying this place enough to laugh!"

Taking out a water canteen, he took a drink, noticing an elderly man and a young woman. They didn't look like they had travelled for weeks like he had.

"You got any water to spare?"
he gestured to his companion, "He dropped his canteen down the stairs he was so eager to investigate."
