The Royal Games/Fights Company had announced yet another competition, but this one would be one that had never been done before. The RDFC would be hosting a competition based on a popular exercise that had gained popularity with young adults called triathlon, though with a few changes to appeal to a larger audience.
As with all RDFC events the crowds showed up in large droves to the event. Many just now moving from the vendors, selling almost any good imaginable around the event, to take a seat. The seats were located where the race would begin and end, as well as where the ceremonies would be held. Special seats were reserved by the elites far from the common crowd with barriers between them to provide maximum comfort. The seats offered all luxuries to be delivered with a wave of the hand, or bell. The common wooden bleachers filled with commoners, exited for this rare and exiting opportunity to witness such greatness. The race would be witnessed through the eyes of flying familiars by wizards and then be shown onto a large cloth between two towers.
As the final preparations before the race took place, the Commentators began explaining, their voices being carried by magic voice projectors, the rules once more,
"I'm Com Commentator, joined by Caler Colour, giving you all one last rundown of the rules before race. So the actual race will start off with a nice five kilometre run, and we really encourage to really run because after the runners have had a fifteen minute head start we will be releasing criminals who are promised their freedom, or death depending on if they can catch and kill the runners. The racers will next swim one and a half kilometres down the Deus ex machina River. They will then have to run up the beach and climb over the Cliff of Exposition. On top they will find horses which they will need to answer two of three riddles to ride. They will then need to travel for forty kilometres along the marked path until they will wind up back here, where the winners will be decided by the ones to make it over the hurdles enchanted to shock those who touch them, and get onto there placement position on the podium. May the odds be ever in your favour. Additional rules for the runners are enhanced leaps are allowed, but know flying. You may not purposefully murder your fellow contestant, accidentally killing is fine though. And lastly have fun.
