"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."
-John F. Kennedy
It was a day not to different then any other day...if anything it was rather peaceful. The sky was blue, with clouds sailing past at a leisurely pace, the birds were singing idly in the trees with not a care in the world. It was near a certain dirt path where one may come to find themselves, no doubt traveling up and down from one town to the next, and had they looked away from the path, they'd be looking across a vast field, with trees dotting the landscape.

In a world that is often filled with many dangers, peace such as this is hard to come by, but one ought take advantage where they could.

Were one to continue to gaze across this field, they may be able to spot a...individual, lying upon the dirt, under the shadows of a tree. In front of this individual, lay the remains of a small camp fire, smoldering but no longer burning. To his left, a sheathed saber rested against the tree, as idle as it's assumed owner. It seemed that everything was peaceful

No...I don't deserve this peace...not after...everything...

The eyes of this particular individual shot open, he jolted upwards in a startled fashion, breathing heavily as he did. It was hard to make out from the distance, but it seemed that this red haired individual had a rather...frightened look...but only momentarily, as within the next few seconds, it had reverted to a rather somber look...as his hair fell around his face...and he shook his head...
Kiara

A young elf was crossing the vast field, such a beautiful scenery, it would be a waste not to enjoy it. Walking slowly she was traveling to no particular place, just wandering around, not caring or paying any attention to where she was going.
Everything was so peaceful, until from nowhere a red haired man appeared on her sight, she got startle, for sure wasn't expecting to find anyone on a place like that. He was a quite far from her, but was he neutral or an enemy, has she fallen on some kind of trap?
She just stood there, scanning her surrounding, accessing the situation and already with her staff on her hands ready to cast a spell if that would be necessary.

The swordsmen sat up, not seemingly minding his surroundings at the moment. The fellow had been in deep thought for the past few moments, so much so that he almost move automatically. A troubled expression was apparent on his face, an expression that only grew more wearisome when he realized that...he was not currently alone.

WIthin the next moment, the bladesmen could be seen slowly reaching for his sword. It take long for the man to have his hands on his weapon, bringing it close to his body, yet he hadn't unsheath it just yet. Instead, the man's focus was now on the elf.

The bladesmen's expression wasn't exactly hostile, really more confused then anything else. Though his posture might have said differently, he simply stayed put, meeting eyes with the elf...as if he was unsure what to do...

Seeing the man reaching slowly for his sword Kiara started to wonder, if he really was an enemy, wouldn't he be prepared for a fight, so why was he unarmed.
She looked around one more time, still couldn’t find anyone else, maybe this was just a misunderstand, but she wasn’t sure, besides, being cautious was never too much. Then she took a more relaxed stance, lowering her crystal staff and asked.
"What are you doing here?"
She then notice a little campfire, maybe she was the one who had caught him off guard.
"Im sorry if i startle you, im just passing by" she said while observing him.
The man's next step would decide everything, if he made any threats, she would cast the spell she had already chanted.

The swordsmen blinked, taking in what the women had said. Even with those words of reassurance, the man remained tense, hand on his sword...although he did not make any sudden movements to unsheathe it, instead electing to help defuse the situation.

"I was not aware that tired travelers could not rest on the side of the road. " The man spoke, he did not moving from his position, not appearing overly hostile, nor relaxing either. "I'm simply resting my feet and mind...I have been traveling for a long time...no doubt you could sympathies."

This women in front of him...she had pointy ears...she was a...what was the term? Elf? Indeed, she was one of those whom were thought of to be naturally nimble, attune nature as some of them were, although also said to be fragile, depending of course. In her hands were a staff...similar yet different to the one weapon that a certain someone carried...was she a mage of sorts? The bladesmen had no idea, he had seen some magic specialists wielding such devices...perhaps...

"I hope this is...not to cause a problem...I am rather fatigued at the moment."

Although not fatigued enough to reassign himself to helplessness.

"I hope this is...not to cause a problem...I am rather fatigued at the moment."

The swordsmen words took her off guard, making her giggle like a little child.
"Im sorry, i didn't mean to laugh, but of course travelers can rest whenever they are tired, besides it would be a waste not enjoy this beautiful field." said the elf now with a kind smile.
"Also im a bit tired, so i didnt payed much attention to where i was going, so thats why i reacted like i did, besides, travelling alone can be a bit dangerous, but thats not a excuse for my behavior, so please acept my appologies" she said while canceled her spell, walking slowly to a near by tree and taking a seat under the pleasant shadow.

"Oh...I see..." The bladesmen nodded, his face visibly relieved as he watched the elf come up to him in the field. As she approached, the man lowered his weapon to the ground next to him, as he extended his hand outwards towards the patch of grass, as if to offer the seat. When she sat, he gave her a deep nod, as his eyes slowly drifted away.

"It is not a problem..." The swordsmen said, a bit quiet, to the point one might think he was muttering to himself. "...when you are traveling, it is often hard to tell who means you ill or well just by one's appearance..."

The man would pause here, as his eyes drifted upon the field. "I was once...never mind...what brings you upon these roads?"

After placing her crystal staff near the tree, Kiara tilted her head at the man's words, it seemed like he was about to say something but changed his mind half way, anyway it was none of her business so she just ignored, responding his question.
"Nothing, i just go where the wind takes me" said the elf with a small smile like she was remembering something.
Indeed that field was a quiet place, the sun, the wind everything so inviting, she got a bit distracted, picking some flowers and starting to intertwine them making a little flower crown, asking during the process.
"What about you?" By your looks you seem to have come from a far distant land?"

Touma blinked, before leaning back, his body further relaxing as he took on the position he had previously occupied.

"Indeed...my home is rather far from here...an entire ocean stands between where we are...and where I come from..." The bladesmen looked away, looking up in the skies...funny, this probably was the same sky that he would have looked at back home...yet here he was, thousands of miles away. "...it certainly is different then around here...in...many ways...the same, in many other ways...surprisingly..."

The bladesmen would pause once more, thinking to himself, closing eyes and taking a deep breath.

"I suppose I am much like you in that aspect...I go where the wind takes me...it's taken me far from home...but at least the scenery have been nice..." Not just him as well...his past in many ways had followed with him...as his eyes gazed over the elf. "...your an...elf, correct?...Where do you come from?"

Kiara followed the man’s gaze, looking at the sky, wondering to herself <” an entire ocean… that seems so far away, is he running away from something or someone, what would drive a person travel this far?”> The next question caught the elf off guard, taking her out of her thoughts, she looked at the swordsman with a surprised look. She couldn't resist giggling a bit again, she was not making fun of him, the question just took her by surprise, perhaps where he came from there were not many elves.

“Yes” she said with a kind smile “Yes I am an elf, what gave me away? My ears? “ she said in a playful tone.

Kiara sighed, her features now turning into a nostalgic one, looking at the blue sky once again before answer his question.

“Where I came from…” she paused a bit “That is a good question…. I wished I could know the answer for that… the only thing I can tell you is that I left Elbion's college of magic… since there is nothing more before that. ”she finally spoke with a tired voice.

“If I may ask… what brings you here? Are you on a mission? Or you just travelling without any purpose?” she asked not really caring for the answer, she just wanted to avoid further questions about the previous subject.

"I suppose it was...it might be the only visable thing that sets you apart from me...other then our particular clothing choices." Touma nodded, a rather goofy smile appeared on his lips, as he began to rub the back of the back of his head.

"Ah, Elbion...I think I've been there on my travels...much better city then...some others upon this continent." Touma had traveled far and wide in the relatively short time he had arrived upon the coast. The bladesmen had seen much, least compare to his homeland.

"Hm...what brought me here?...Well..." The bladesmen almost muttered, as he slowly laid his back against the ground, bringing both his hands back behind his head to cushion himself. Staring at the sky as he did, before chuckling a bit. "...my reason is the opposite of yours...yet we both find ourselves here in the same spot...away from what we knew as the closest thing to home...hehe..."

The bladesmen chuckled, but it would die down into silence, before the bladesmen slowly closed his eyes. It was a wonder what he was thinking in that moment, if anything at all...the only thing that passed for a few moments was silence.

Kiara tilted her head clearly confused at the man comment and his body language, then looked down at herself thinking <” My clothing choice? What is wrong about it?”> she couldn't understand. Maybe it was just not very common for the swordsmen see this types of clothes in the same way it was not very common for Kiara see clothes in the same style as the man was wearing. But still curiosity took over her.

“What do you mean with my particular clothing choices?” the elf asked locking her eyes with the man's.

After a while Kiara noticed that the bladesmen had fallen silent, she glanced at him realizing that he had his eyes closed. Was he sleeping?
Anyway Kiara didn't want to break the silence, so she just gazed the grass field, a gentle breeze messed a bit with the elf’s hair, it felt so good and for some reason she was starting to relax, slowly falling asleep. It could be due to the calm wind and the small rays of sunlight passing through the tree’s leaves, hitting her fair skin, or maybe it was because of the silence and seeing the man so relaxed made her let her guard down. In the end Kiara fell asleep without even notice.
