Steve reflected on the things that might be counted as mistakes in his previous attempt to improve relations between The Empire, and The Eternum. One maybe a letter was not personal, or respecting enough. Showing up yourself, or at the very least sending a humanoid messenger shows more respect.

Then there was the whole mess with Amankh attacking himself with the two out of the four leaders of the Eternum, and with a giant elder dragon... that was just a huge mess that Steve still didn't really know how to handle, but he was confident in his skills to wing it, after all how much worse could it get.

Finally Steve had kind of gone around gathering extremists, and just generally playing on the emotions of the general populous to turn hundreds of people into what would probably be called monsters. Now even though he hadn't ended up using them in a violent way that didn't change the fact that he did kind of arm some enemies of the state, and that was before taking into account how the state would view a bunch of their citizens being turned into freaks, and being put under the protection of one who lead their enemy. Even though most of them had accepted his protection and still lived peacefully on honestly one of Steves largest communal farms, that did not lift the blame for those who left and miss used their new power against the state.

Honestly this last bit was the main reason that Steve stood before the royal palace today. Even if he had run into, honestly extremely surprisingly, small resistance from anyone, he felt like he had to make things right with his old friends. Even if they didn't still see him the same, or were no longer the same people he once knew.

So there Steve stood before the palace as the guards held their weapons blocking his way, a message that a man named Steve had come demanding audience with someone within. Of course Steve had not come empty handed with him he carried several gifts in an attempt to smooth things along. Also to act as a symbol of his power, and act as a show of protection Steve stood flanked by two creatures: a scorpion, and snake man respectively.
