Celebration of Shivers
On the heels of the autumn equinox, as the first chill winds begin to blow, a strangeness takes Arethil. The orange and black moon Pneria appears locked in its full phase and shows no signs of waning as days pass. Lessat inches closer and closer to its zenith, signaling that the eclipse will fall before long. Spirits are restless, nights are harrowing, and the cold creeps forward.
Yet it is also a time of joy as the harvest is reaped! Peoples across the continents feast and give thanks for the bounty. They place candles in their windows and at their doorsteps, and in Alliria children are offered sweets and warned against monsters and ghouls in the night. As strange noises and howls come from the wilds, the cities and villages do their best to keep warm, full, and safe.
The Celebration of Shivers is a decentralized site event for the month of October. There is no main event thread. Instead, you the writers may glorify everything spooky and autumnal through your own adventures. To participate, simply start or join an open thread with the event prefix.
Event Thread Qualifications:
- Open Threads only! The more the merrier (and quite possibly gorier).
- Event threads must have a halloween-esque theme. This can be horror, murder mysteries, classic monsters, harvest festivals, witch's rituals, etc.
- Event threads must be new threads started in October! Sorry, no retconning your old thread into an event thread.
TREATS
Event thread creators and participants are eligible to receive spooky loot! Maybe you will be visited by a benevolent spirit in private, or perhaps you will be guided to hidden treasure. Maybe a werewolf will give you some candy, idk.
TRICKS
Event threads may find themselves visited by malicious creatures, or at the whim of the strange forces gripping Arethil’s moon. Feel free to explore your own stories, but be aware that unexpected dangers may appear from the shadows.
Monster Mash
We will be holding Chronicle’s second Monster Making Competition from October 3rd to October 16th. Details will follow in their own thread, but get your terrifying creative juices going.
