Vulpesen growled as he swatted at yet another insect attacking him through the underbrush. "You sure you don't know any pyromancy?" he grumbled, casting a pleading glance to his diminutive companion, Khehe. Varos' instructions had been rather clear in where he was directed to go. Near the edge of the Falwood, though deep enough to avoid the prying attentions of civilization, a certain gift had been placed on the leylines, prepared for such a day that the master of secrets might find one to bear it. Much to the warlock's pleasure, he had been chosen to receive it.

To his displeasure, the terrain had thus far proven hostile, even for a man raised in the deepest forests of the Ixchel wilds. Everything here seemed bigger, the trees, the grass, and especially the blood sucking insects that seemed to come in swarms by the dozen with every mile they walked. While the zorren was usually a large fan of animals of all kinds, such sentiments mainly applied to those with feathers, fur, or scales and less to those with exoskeletons.

Reactions: Khehe
Khehe trudged along behind Vulpesen reluctantly. Her pale hair was plastered to her sweaty brow and curls of white were standing out against her flushed cheeks. The proud little sidhe would be the last to admit she was struggling or that she had lost more of her strength in Eccrin than she’d first thought. What was a bit of walking? It was nothing! She could handle it!

Except the forest was dense and Vulpesen’s stride was much longer than hers. There were leaves bigger than she was and bugs almost as big as she was. It wasn’t really hot, but the forest was sticky and humid and generally awful. Nothing like the forests of her homeland.

A thought that was there and gone, frustratingly beyond her reach once more. It irritated her further.

“If only,” she groaned as she pushed yet another oversized leaf out of her way. There were some nuisances that even the fae suffered.

Then, with a loud, deliberate huff, she maneuvered to a place where the foliage wouldn’t get in her way. There was the familiar hum of insect wings but this time they were her own translucent wings appearing as he took to the air. Khehe weaved out around the low-hanging branches to follow after him. Flying would surely be easier.

“Where exactly are we going?” she asked again for what must have been the third time in as many hours.

"Deep," was the Warlock's response as his eyes searched the underbrush. "My master gave me a heading, but as you can imagine, this are doesn't exactly lend itself to a map. He said we'd feel it when he found it." In truth, all Vulpesen felt was the sweat dripping from his hair which was seemingly falling more and more into his eyes. Still, he knew to trust his master, even if his tasks seemed rather odd.

Looking up, he watched Khehe take to the air his eyes widening as the sight of the wings offered him an idea. "Try not to lose me, but feel free to scout if you think it'll help!" Then with a steady exhale, he looked inwards. The forest was dense and lithe as he was, his body was still one made for civilization. But perhaps there was a form that might aid him even more so in his task. Falling to all fours, he let out a small growl of pain as his cloak bristled out into a coat of dark fur. Within moments, Khehe would find her compatriot taking the form of a wolf, an animal far more adapted to the terrain they were currently stalking.
