Appearance

Yrael is not a physically imposing specimen. He is slender and fair-featured, and not particularly tall. His hair is light blonde. His most striking physical feature is his bright violet eyes, which are obvious to anyone in the same room. He typically wears a combination of light cloth and armor, as he finds full plate uncomfortably heavy.

Skills and Abilities

Force Magic
Yrael wields force magic. Lacking any of the frills or theatrics associated with most elemental disciplines, force magic does exactly what it sounds like: delivers force with devastating impact. Similar to telekinesis, force magic is invisible and capable of both delicate manipulation of the physical world and catastrophic destruction. Yrael has been known to pour himself drinks without moving so much as a finger, and has flattened war elephants into craters.

Sound Manipulation
As a necessary byproduct of pushing forces through the air, many of Yrael's attacks generate sound. While sudden massive attacks usually produce sonic booms or thunderclaps, Yrael has managed to perfect the art of manipulating the air to use sound to his advantage. While still technically force magic, his sonic attacks can disorient opponents and shatter solid materials (provided he hits the correct frequency). A particularly useful ability that he has practiced is muffling. Yrael can dampen sound in the air around him, producing a bubble of absolute silence in about a 10 foot diameter.

Personality

As a product of his training and natural quietness, Yrael comes off as cold and impersonal. He dislikes idle chatter and boasting, both of which he finds to be wastes of time. He prefers to let his strength speak for him, and values power above most things. He has little empathy or compassion and has no trouble following orders. That being said, if he does not respect his commander, or believes he has a simpler solution, he has been known to deviate. These deviations usually result in brute force being used to solve problems that had originally called for more diplomacy.

Trained as Dreadlord for his entire life, Yrael has wholly consumed the propaganda of Vel Anir. He will fight for his city without question, and while he does not outright hate non-humans, he does believe them to be of lesser standing.

Biography & Lore

Yrael was born just outside the walls of Vel Anir proper. He was told that his parents were farmers, humble but kind folk, who welcomed guests and the needy from any walk of life so long as they were willing to earn their keep through fair work or other services. Their first and only child was oddly quiet. He never cried, he hardly seemed to play. He had a knack for crushing insects and breaking twigs. He did not speak a single word until well after he was taken from his parents.

Yrael remembers none of this. Taken from his family at the age of two, he has been completely crafted into the living weapon that is a Dreadlord. He never cared to make friends during his training, finding it to be pointless distraction from the only thing that mattered: becoming stronger. His magical discipline, much like his personality, turned out to be extremely simple and to the point, offensive and defensive power reduced to its purest form. While not interesting or exciting to look at, it is terrifyingly effective.

His progress was rapid, and he quickly ascended from student to apprentice to third level. He recently rose to second level, though not without input from his former mentor:

"While Yrael showed the most rapid progress of any student I have had the privilege to mentor, he also showed the least emotion, the least personal reflection, and the least empathy. While he is no doubt a powerful and loyal weapon to the city, I fear what may come should that loyalty be broken."
This statement was only half true. While Yrael was indeed granted second level standing and he did not offer any rebuttal or counter to this criticism, he was not without personal reflection. As his status has grown he has found himself increasingly bogged down by the political intrigue of the warring families. His natural desire for clean and simple solutions (usually borne out of force) has lead him to question the efficacy and qualifications of the people in charge. While he would never voice these doubts, he has begun to think that he would do a much better job as a single, all-powerful monarch.

In a rare but oddly fitting move, Yrael has sworn allegiance to the King of Vel Anir. The sovereign holds little true power, but Yrael sees this as a way to move freely in between the bureaucracy of the families, while remaining close to the title that he secretly wishes to restore and claim for himself.
