Tomiki had been taken away from his home and family when he was a cub. His captors were enterprising criminals from the Areck Slums who intended to raised him to fight other creatures. However, Rhan Terrwyn happened to come across him. Appalled that such an adorable little creature would be used for fighting, she gave his captors a beating and decided to take him in and look after him. It was not so long after this that he and Rhan moved to the Outer City and into a much better home. Because Rhan worked away on a somewhat regular basis, he took more responsibility for himself. Learned how to fetch food from the dispenser Rhan always filled up for him. He was also free to wander outside the house, but he was happy with his food and toys so never felt the need to wander out for anything more than the occasional bit of fresh air.
