Suleiman Jemeital
Appearance and Equipment
* Medium black hair pulled back into a knot, light brown eyes, light brown skin, 5'9", average build, lacking the muscle and tone of soldierly physicality and training.
* When armored, usually wears a hardened leather jerkin over mail and some plate. Has a favorite gray scarf he likes to wear at most times.
* Usually armed with a Gildan fighting axe.
Skills and Abilities
Praetor Anti-Magic: Silence. Suleiman can inflict at range upon a spellcaster what is effectively a curse, robbing them of their ability to use their magic so long as he maintains the Silence upon them. On magical objects, a similar effect occurs, and said objects are robbed of their magical properties while the Silence lasts. Suleiman can maintain more than one Silence at a time, but each additional Silence beyond the first becomes more taxing than the last.
Quaestor: Suleiman is currently enrolled in Gild's War College, studying and training to become a Praetor, and as such is receiving an education and martial practice. His martial prowess is, at present, still very much that of a learner.
Personality and Characteristics
Major
* Unserious, happy-to-lucky, careless, laissez-faire. Suleiman enjoyed the easy living of his wealthy Beyar upbringing, and it is reflected in his general attitude.
* Unused to responsibility, and has a tendency to procrastinate on or shirk duties, especially if they seem "minor" or "not a big deal" to him.
* Likes to hear people laugh and to be the center of attention. Can be a mischief maker, though he doesn't have criminal leanings. Decent heart, and polite when he needs to be.
* Improviser, and generally prefers to "wing it" instead of devising and sticking to a solid plan.
* Not particularly brave, though perhaps one day he could be.
Minor
+ Interested in the world outside of Gild, and dreams of going on a Gezi someday. Particularly fascinated by Kaliti culture, and the Empire of Amol-Kalit.
+ Enamored by elves, and a bit envious of the long lives they lead.
+ Afraid of heights.
+ Doesn't like silence. Nervous in a quiet room. Will strike up conversation for some liveliness.
+ Loves raki, now that he is of age to drink.
+ Likes comedic plays and stories, and fancies being something of a performer himself.
Biography and Lore
The Beyar Clan of Jemeital is one of the largest in Gild, and are purveyors of the finest anti-magic devices one can find in all of Arethil.
Though Suleiman paid little mind to this grand inheritance of his family name. Indeed, even as the eldest of two brothers, he hardly set a good example for his siblings, and oftentimes encouraged them to trouble and mischief along with himself. He met the expectations of his father and his mother only as much as he needed to, and preferred his own leisurely pursuits rather than learning how to take up the mantle of the Jemeital name.
His plan, his dream, was to go on a Gezi about Arethil once he came of age, using the fortune of Clan Jemeital to travel and experience the world. But, as though Regel himself intervened, Suleiman—only months from his seventeenth nameday—was found to have Praetor power. His father and mother were elated. But Suleiman? Anxious. Nervous. Wary of the great expectation now firmly placed upon him. But, however reluctantly at first, into the War College Suleiman went, coming to the decision himself that he did not want to be labeled an Aedile.
Can Suleiman at last learn to take upon himself the responsibility of Clan and homeland, and live up to revered duty of a Praetor?
