Tiefling
In short, tieflings are related to immortal demons, kind of. Tieflings are born when someone with infernal or elder blood in their heritage gives birth to a child. This is however different from when a demon has a child with a mortal, as that still results in a half demon. Tieflings, despite their looks, are not half demons.
Appearance
Tieflings vary greatly in appearance, with many different colors, horn shapes, and body types. Though there is a distinct difference between Infernal tieflings and Elder tieflings.
Infernal tieflings, the most common kind, are usually bright colors such as reds or pinks. Their horns are often much more pronounced. They are also attributed to having strong personalities and high ambition.
Elder tieflings, significantly more rare than their infernal counterparts, often have smaller horns and their skin colors are more mellow and dark, such as blues and grays. They usually have a casual view of the world. While they are equally as ambitious as the infernals, they are more patient, and prefer to wait for the perfect time to strike. They are usually very aloof and relaxed, even in situations they should be panicking.

Habitat
It varies, they can be found on any continent. Though a lot of tieflings can be found as sailors, due to the fact that many tieflings are orphaned in port cities, and they turn to joining privateer and pirate crews to make a living. Though that's just on the surface. They can even be found in the underrealms
Traits
Tieflings have an assortment of traits that add to their reputation as demons to the more uninformed.
Both Infernal and Elder tieflings have a resistance to fire, and cannot be burned as a result. Their skin is completely impervious to the element, to the point that they can swim in lava. The pain would be unimaginable, but they would come out of the molten rock unharmed.
They also take half as long to heal from wounds as the average mortal. Fatal injuries can kill just as easily, however.
Elder tieflings are able to understand and speak the language of the Elder Gods. Infernal tieflings can do the same for the language of demons.
Infernal Tieflings have a natural talent for the use of infernal magic and making deals with the infernal sort of demons, as some demons from the infernal plane consider tieflings akin to family. They also hold a talent for the element of fire when it comes to using magic
Elder Tieflings are better at making deals with eldritch demons, as they tend to have a natural liking of their sort, likely due to their relation to the eldest of dark beings. They also have a natural talent for the arcane, and the eldritch magics contained within it's classification.
It is told in legend that Elder tieflings can gaze upon the true forms of the elder gods without losing their minds. Though this has never been proven.
Tieflings of both kinds are unable to cast holy magic, and any attempts to do so are met with extreme pain. When someone uses a holy healing spell or anything of the sort on a tiefling, it will do it's intended purpose, but the tiefling will be put through immense pain in the process.
Tieflings are also universally known to have dark vision.

Lore
To put it simply, one day an elder god and an infernal god both found mortals that, against the odds, they found worthy of their favor. Ever since then, tieflings have been popping up all over the globe since time immemorial.
History
Tieflings, being an anomaly, do not have a centralized history. Though what history they have is wrought with discrimination and hatred due to their dark heritage. Tieflings are most often found in port cities and actually have a bit of a presence on the sea due to many of them taking to the ocean after being orphaned, in hopes of starting a new life. Though tieflings do have a few settlements and safe havens here and there, one of note being Tolelajara.
