The Domum Dei

Physical Information
Southeast Coast of Allir Reach A parochial school and place of worship for pantheons of good and justice. Rolling hills and gritty forests lead to a valley where the Domum rests. Strong winds and powerful waves berate the Domum on the worst of days. Fog and overcast are a constant in this region. Sunlight rarely makes it through the callous weather that the sea brings.

The Domum Dei was erected with the intention to cure the lands of its evil and lawlessness. Extremists and purveyors of traditional justice held rank. As the seasons changed, so did the strict moral code the Domum promoted. A century ago, Deacon Markus devised a controversial plan to extend their reach and control across Epressa. This created cause for concern by the clergy, as well as much admonishing's. A decade of supplanting the old code and cultivating a new one caused many worshippers and teachers to abscond in fear of this new world order. The Domum still operates under the same banner as it once did, with a slight revision. For the greater good, at all costs.

For under a century the Domum Dei has prided itself on producing disciplined, intelligent, competent and dangerous prospects. Consequently, training takes 10 years to complete. After the training, a series of traditionally deadly tests must be completed before the prospects are deemed, Praeliator De Bona. Warriors Of Good. These acolytes undergo rigorous trainings and study. They become versed in the languages that span Epressa, her history, the political landscape, its enemies and religious sects. The least exceptional kids become grounds keepers, clergy, justiciars or clerics. They placate to the public while the rest fate weave and severe thread.

Those fate weavers lie underneath the Domums hallowed ground. Intricate tunnels carved out of the rock leading into the waters below muffle insidious and horrific acts of injustice. All for the sake of it. At the head of this organization is Deacon Lauren. He handpicks, grooms, and transforms prospects from off the streets to become Praelitor De Bona. A militaristic underground den of the finest and most educated assassins the Espressa has never seen. Trained infiltrators, killers, spies, intel gatherers, saboteurs and much more. The Fate Weavers aren't for hire. The Domum council oversees all operations within the organization and deploys their units when absolutely necessary. That isn't to say that there hasn't been some abuse of this power. Political scales have been tipped, land grabs won, kings fallen ill well before their time and heirs never birthed. Many unexplained events can be attributed to this growing power.

"In a world full of war, chaos and vile; there needs to be equilibrium. Worship and open hands are archaic weapons, brothers. We must weaponize our faith, our dogma. For we aren't bringing about justice and peace with hymns and prayer. We're living in the shadow of false security and conservatism. I implore you to remove your myopic lens and see a future that I've envisioned. One with action, action taken by the men who've been chosen! We must unsheathe our blades and tongue, and strike evils heart wherever it gives birth! For the greater good, at all costs!"
-Deacon Markus

History

The Domum Dei was built into a callous rock formation separate from the Allir Reach and its neighbors centuries ago. The founders wanted to be an extension of the Epressa, not governed and corrupted by her. A rotating bridge is the only pathway to and from the Domum. This hallowed structure overwhelms visitors standing at 450 feet tall at its peak. When it was consecrated, it was able to accommodate 10,000 worshippers. Among the building’s significant features are its stained-glass windows; its ornate green, red, and white marble facade; its collection of paintings and statuary designed and donated by worshippers. The church was designed to be a safe haven for people of all faiths under the celestial banner of good. It didn't become a school til its 10th birthday. Worshippers could finally seek more than solace and community every 2nd Saturday. In its first century, the Domum became renowned for its reverential teachings of the celestials behind morals and justice. To this day the Domum is considered one the region's best educational institutions.
