A houseless drow born to the streets of Zar’ahal. He rose from Urchin to direct servant of the queen through centuries of killing discreetly in her name. Now, in his twilight years, he holds the leashes of those who now do the same.

Appearance

Dressed comfortably in the well worn clothes of an officer. He looks older than he is. His one remaining eye is sunken in and his face is covered in deep wrinkles. His cheeks are often flush and his messy white hair is held in a braid that he replaces less often than he should. Quarro is clean shaven, and smells of incense, as per the queen’s instructions.

He is lame in his left leg, having to walk with a crutch and a limp to get around. A rapier hangs from his sword belt and Quarro is often accompanied by his pet Warg, Vio.

Skills and Abilities

Skilled Assassin: Quarro learned the art of assassination through a life of struggle and death. Even now, he recalls those lessens well.
More than he lets on: Quarro is one to downplay his strengths and exaggerate his weaknesses. The sharpness of his senses, the extent of his handicap, it is all information that Quarro can manipulate and exploit.
The queen’s loyal mutt: This old dog can kill.

Personality

Quarro is disillusioned and brutal, yet hides those facts beneath a veneer of presentability. He knows how to come across as just mindful enough that no nobles lobby for his execution. He drinks fine wines and eats plentiful food, but the starving street urchin never left. Quarro sees himself as the Queen’s pet dog; something that is Kept around to loyally hunt the pests that threaten her property.

He treats his hounds well enough, after breaking them in to their new lot in life. He tries to build a rapport with those who don’t die and appreciate them as he does Vio, his pet Warg.

Biography & Lore

Born houseless on the streets of Zar’ahal. Quarro was little more than a dog desperate for scraps.

When he was old enough to hold a sword he joined the army. His first deployment coming when he was just 17. And then came his 3rd, and his 4th, and so on it went. By the time he turned 100, Quarro had killed more than he could even count. He picked up the nickname “Alley Mutt” because of his destitute chilldhood, and his tendency to catch foes unaware, and main them brutally.

Eventually, he became so good at this that the army started sending him behind enemy lines to assassinate and sabotage. He did this alone, being seen as too filthy to add to the scouts or any division of rangers. But all the same, Quarro served loyally and effectively: climbing the ranks further than a street urchin ever should have.

Quarro’s finest victory came when an orc warlord had formed a legion to plunder the Underrealm. As the drow rallied for brutal war, Quarro killed the entire orc command in a single night. Orcish Wargs descended on Quarro as he fled the warlords tent. Gouging out his right eye and mangling his left leg. Somehow he survived, and made it back to the drow encampment. He survived with the orc legion routed. However his eye and leg could not be fully healed, even by magic.

Following this, Quarro was decorated as a hero of the realm, with some houses musing that he might have noble blood somewhere in his veins. He was made a member of the illustrious Queensguard and allowed to live in the royal palace. Even allowed to have a single wish, which he spent on a Warg pup that he trained into a beast with absolute loyalty to him.

These gifts however came with a price. As Quarro found himself in the queen’s court he was now to train more assassins, living houseless or disgraced. Leading the force known humbly as the hounds, and answering directly to the Queen.

Nowadays, Quarro can be seen walking the palace halls with his crutch and his loyal Warg Vio. His graves are good enough to get by, and he eats well enough to never sleep hungry; But Quarro knows full well what he is. An old street mutt with a leash around his neck, holding the leashes of other hounds who answer only to the queen and always go for the throat.
