Appearance

Ryado is a charismatic man, he's well kept and very fit as befitted a man of the sea. He has wide shoulders and massive hands with incredible grip strength.
His facial hair is a styled mustache with a soul patch, and his hair is short but also a but waved.

Onshore he dresses well, if not a bit conservatively for how wealthy he is. On-ship he wears only what is practical for the occasion. In wind and storm he'll be wearing a heavy raincoat, on a hot blistery day he might be stripped down to his trousers.

Skills and Abilities

Sea-Master: He's a master of the waves and an expert captain of men on a ship. He can read the waves, the tides, the stars, navigate, and even strategize a seafaring battle.

Sword Fighter: He's exceptionally talented in the use of a rapier or cutlass, two different weapons but he is a man who knows how to use them.

First Aid: He's well used to fixing men injured on the ship, even seasickness or other illnesses, he's got some sort of remedy that will aid in recovery. Some off the wall stuff sometimes, but him and his crew swear by them.

Sea Merchant: He's got the silver tongue of a man who makes deals, makes good deals, and then everyone makes money. Sly and honest, he's never made a shady deal in his life, or a deal that he's ever had to back out of or couldn't otherwise fulfill.

Personality

He's what one might call, "the responsible type". He drinks but never gets drunk, sleeps but never with anyone but his wife. He's a cool head in a crisis and always seems to know the best course of action when everything has gone straight to hell in a handbasket with a picnic lunch wrapped in a blanket and a bottle of wine on the side.

His friends and crew would sometimes joke about him, "If the cap'n were a ship, he'd be called 'Ol Faithful!'" He keeps his word and never gives it lightly.

Biography & Lore

What's the life of a lowly sea captain? You sail from one port to the next, get paid for cargo and passengers, then you're on the open sea once again.
Life wasn't overly special or exciting for the young Ryado Tirmigen. His father worked at the docks, his mother processed fish, and he dreamed about sailing on the open sea. He lived an average life, his parents made enough to keep the three of them fed and then some for comfort and living.

When he finally achieved his dream of sailing he was quickly disillusioned, it wasn't anything like the dreams he had. It was hard work, it was thankless work, but he learned it and learned it good until he learned to like it.
Once he started liking it it started getting better, once it got better he started climbing the ranks. When he climbed the ranks he soon became captain of his own ship.

But for all his love of the sea, he found it becoming so boring. He looked back on his life and realized just how boring it was. He took to drinking to distract himself till finally the straw broke and he turned to piracy, now there was excitement and adventure! Fighting for your life, raiding trade ships, leading a group of cutthroats.

He had a good run till he attacked the wrong trade ship, belonging to the wrong man, with that same wrong man as a passenger aboard the ship. It was far better protected than his informants told him, the soldiers far better equipped and trained and the owner far more competent than any man Ryado ever met before, even being much older than this merchant.

His crew was killed but for himself and a few others, and they were poised to receive justice on the high seas.
But Alanthis recognized Ryado's talent on the sea. They dueled and the loser, which was Ryado, had to serve the other.
When he lost in the sword fight is when Ryado's life turned around for him. He became a cunning merchant on the high seas transporting high value goods for the Alanthis trading company, which promised him frequent excitement whenever a pirate sought to rob the cargo.

His life improved, he quit drinking and sleeping around and eventually married his childhood sweetheart, taking her last name since she was her parents only child with no son to carry their name. Children were soon to follow in the coming years, and now he's got one growing boy and another child on the way. He was wealthy and happy, what else could he want?
