Minkk, Queen of the Aether
Appearance
She's exceedingly humanoid for a creature of the Swarm, but this is offset by her reptilian eyes and inhumanely pale skin and hair.
In spite of the natural look of her skin it's actually strong chitin with seems so fine as to be nearly invisible. Thus she has full protection while maintaining a full range of motion.
Her hair is really a complex flow of feelers, sensors, and antenna.
In form she appears to be a girl in her late teens, though she's matured far more quickly than a human and is actually only three years old.
She doesn't need clothing, but she often chooses to wear clothing woven of her own silk and webs.

Biography
Once a Broodmatriarch of the Swarm, Minkk was a large creature with many legs, powerful claws and several eyes. Her abdomen was evolved so that she could produce creatures of the Swarm at an incredibly high rate.
She was created by the Queen of Resurgence to keep the Swarm and defend the hive in her absence. To this end Minkk was given an abnormally high amount of brain mass to allow her all the functions and intelligence to defend the hive properly and effectively.
However, a year after the queen left Minkk began to exercise her newfound intelligence and resulting freewill. She began to explore, making changes and beginning experimentation with the Swarm. She sent her drones far and wide, spying on the monsters and human settlements around them. Through the eyes of her drones she saw her first human, was enamored by their smooth skin and simple template and construction. Instructing her advisors in what she wanted she went into the primordial pool and was covered in a chrysalis. Under her instructions and the guidance of her advisors she emerged a humanoid creature, simple in construction but without the obvious weakness of flesh.
This act of making herself humanoid in a way made her feel closer to her mother, who was once human before she became the queen of Resurgence. But apart from honoring her form she felt nothing for breaking away from the will of her queen. Instead she became a queen herself.
