Appearance

Maeve is what many would consider to a beautiful person. She has long black hair reaching just beyond her shoulders, which she likes to adorn with fancy looking clips, beads and chains. Her eyes are dark brown and skin a shade of 'off-white'. She is rather short, but has quite a strong frame, her legs and abdomen especially being toned from years of honing her skills as a dancer.

Skills and Abilities

Musician: Having been brought up around music, and taking up playing ever since she was old enough to hold an instrument, Maeve has been rather skilled at playing numerous instruments. This is fueled by her love and passion for life, feeling music to be the perfect outlet for all her emotions. She is able to play the flute, harp and violin, along with most stringed instruments with a lot of confidence. She can also sing, and sometimes she enjoys just banging on different kinds of percussion instruments or shaking the tambourine.

Dancing: Maeve has had a love for dancing equal to that of her love of music. Ever since she was a child, she loved to prance and twirl about to the bards that played in her village. As she grew older, this was refined to more traditional forms of dance such as river dance, a far less rigid (and kinder on the toes) form of ballet, and other folk dances. Maeve does not employ much discipline in her dancing, feeling that a dancer's movement should be free and expressive.

Music Magic: A gift gained from her parents, Maeve is able to cast magic spells through singing or playing instruments. Primarily used as a means of defense or support for her allies (i.e. Enhancing physical strength or defense, Healing, etc.), Maeve can also use some rudimentary offensive attacks with her magic (i.e. Concussive blasts emitted by yelling or shrieking, etc.) Most notably is Maeve's ability to infuse emotion into this magic. Over weaker-willed opponents or anyone who willingly leaves themselves open to this effect, Maeve is able to instill all kinds of emotions into those she targets. This could be instilling feelings of warmth and love in those who are angry, draining their will to fight, or peace and relaxation, resulting in laziness or even sleep.

Combat: Maeve is pretty good with a sword. Opting for a form of swordplay popular amongst fencers and traditional 'duellists', she relies more on her footwork and agility when fighting. Her skills and grace as a dancer have helped give her an edge in such duels.

Personality

Maeve is, in general, a very positive and free-spirited individual. She has a love of life, a thirst for adventure, and maintains a very optimistic outlook in life. While she is mostly positive and optimistic, she is no stranger to negative emotions. As she likes to say, "You gotta have a little sadness once in a while to know when the good times come." As good natured as she might be towards most people, however, she harbours a bitter resentment towards the rich upper class who benefit from the hard work of the lower classes.

Biography & Lore

Maeve was born in a small settlement called Adare. Very few people knew of this place and it was of no strategic importance to anyone, so it was largely left alone. On a rare occasion, there might be a few bandits but the people living there were hardy folk capable of looking after themselves. So you could say Maeve had a rather sheltered upbringing. Her parents were kind and nurturing and allowed her a lot of freedom. She had a good upbringing, although nothing particularly exciting happened until she was in her mid twenties. After performing at the pub one evening, she was approached by a rather odd trio. A sturdy, almost giant-like, man from the North and his nephew, along with a peculiar little creature that she learned was known as a goblin. They were part of a travelling circus, of sorts, and were in the process of assembling a small group of talented bards to form a band. With that request came the promise of adventure, of travel, of meeting all kinds of new people. It would be tough going, but Maeve was eager to accept the offer.

So, the morning after, she bid her friends and family a tearful farewell, along with numerous promises to visit them, and set off on her new adventure.
