Mae Heilig
Never give up on a dream.
Never forget a nightmare.
Appearance
Mae is generally well put together, adorned in leather armor, and well muscled after training her entire life for combat. She wears her messy blonde hair into a tight ponytail or bun and possesses a pair of pale colored green eyes.
Skills and Abilities
Throughout every generation of Dreadlords there's typically one or two students whose magic has befuddled the sharpest minds in Vel Anir. Mae Heilig broke everything the academy thought they knew about magic. She apparently had a rare gift that they commonly referred to as, "third-party instantaneous intangible fabrication." Mae simply calls her magic, "wish granting."
While this ability relegated her own potential as little more than a Level Four Dreadlord, the lowest class, it also made her one of the most valuable assets within the nation. When paired with others her magic can be terrifyingly powerful, subtly influence, or carry with it any number of effects both intended and unintended.
Mae's wish magic can grant wishes of those around her. Within reason, of course, her abilities aren't capable of breaking the Five Laws of Magic and they are very much limited by how far she can push her own magical reserves. They can vary from causing an audience to feel invigorated if a public speaker wishes it to be true all the way to animating figures which only appear in dreams or nightmares.
Granting temporal form to the images of the subconscious is actually one of her most common unintended side effects. Mae's magic is volatile and on some occasions dangerous. The risk of granting more than the simple wish of the wisher is a constant threat which increases based on how big of an ask the wish is.
A Dream.
A Nightmare.
Personality
Overly obsessed with Archon Gilram.
Biography & Lore
Born in Vel Ostemir, the cave city, her magic was discovered when she was still very young. Her father jokingly told his daughter that he wished he had a case of fine Obanese wine for every person who ever told him to stop drinking. In an instant approximately sixty-eight cases of wine materialized in the middle of the streets of Vel Ostemir. As did a terrifying ogre that proceeded to consume Mae's father. The beast attempted to consume her until the limits of her magic were reached and the disgusting creature vanished.
Local Guards saw the entirety of the interaction unfold. They seized the girl, took the wine for themselves, and paid her widowed mother the standard fare for children taken into the service of the Dreadlords. Over the years Mae proved herself an adequate fighter and learned to control her magic well enough not to grant wayward wishes but only those wishes of a person (or person's) whom she targeted. To this day she is still incapable of stopping the ruminations of others from becoming reality, however.
After graduation she was personally requested by Archon Gilram to serve under his care after meeting her on a mission while she was still an initiate. Despite the gap in age Mae Heilig developed a crush on the Archon which has only grown over time despite his insistence that he has no romantic interest in the Dreadlord.
Once the revolution occurred Mae eagerly and willingly followed Gilram's vision, using her wish magic to help him achieve his goals.
