Appearance

Jair is not what people normally see when they think of a giant, a hulking, lumbering oaf of a enlarged humanoid. His proportions are fairly normal for a creature of his stature which even among giants is quite tall. He is muscular, but not overly so, he does not have a 6 pack, but his stomach is flat with a vertical definition crease running from belly button, to sternum. His charcoal colored hair is cut short, but is very shaggy, along with the mat of hair on his chest, arms, and legs. His storm grey/blue eyes are wreathed in laugh lines, with thinish eyebrows. He wears a tunic, and pants made of dyed sail cloth; the tunic being maroon, and the pants being brown making him look something of a giant dandy. On the underside of his right forearm is an earth rune tattoo made of dragon’s blood, and a series of spirit ruins running from above his right eye to below it, in a typical eye scar look.

Skills and Abilities

Combat: From most proficient to least...

Meteor Hammer: The giant is proficient with the Meteor Hammer, sometimes known as a dragon’s fist. A flail type weapon, that he can use to wrap, bind, and strike his opponent with precis, and unpredictable attacks.

Boxing: Jair is an accomplished boxer, not a heavyweight champion, but he’d could easily make a name for himself in the circuit if there was one. He fights in an out-boxer style seeking to maintain a gap from their opponent and fight with faster, longer range punches, and combo’s.

Archery: Seven times out of ten he can hit a cow sized target from a hundred yards.

Magic: From most proficient to least...
Rune Magic: Jair is an enthusiastic amature when it comes to rune magic. He is capable of scribing all the cantrip runes, and most of the lower tier utility spells, and he can safely use prepared intermediate spells.

Knowledge: From most proficient to least...

Magical lore: As always knowledge comes before experience. To prepare for his use of spells, and scribing of runes, first he had to know magic, the five laws, the various disciplines of magic.

Rune Magical Lore: A subdiscipline, of magical lore, and a natural side effect of learning rune magic. Jair understands the fundamentals of rune magic, it’s strength’s, and limitations, proper scribery, and the basic reading of runes among other basic knowledges of rune magic.

Navigation: Jair can make his way around from town to town, just don’t ask him to navigate without landmarks.

Spells Known:

Ajax wave: price; eldritch energy, and kinetic energy; Activated from the earth rune tattoo on Jair’s arm that unleashes a wave of earth that can knock his enemies off balance, and throwing smaller ones in the air as his fist, or melee weapon hits the ground. The more powerful attack, and more eldritch energy spent the greater the magnitude of the wave. Collateral damage is of course expected.

Ghost Touch: price; eldritch energy; Activated from the spirit rune on his neck, this allows Jair to see, and interact with the incomporial. Each rune will begin to glow in succession one after the next. Once all the runes light up the spell ends. (one rune lights up per post.)

Languages Common, Jotun, Fathach

Possessions:

105 (48 KG) pound anchor, with 80 FT (36 meters) of rope: Jairs Meteor Hammer of giant proportions.

Recurve bow, and arrows: Scaled up for a giant.

Backpack with the basic adventuring gear.

Personality

Well like any sentient being, Jair has a range of moods, and emotions depending on the situation. He’s a fairly amenable guy, striking up conversation. His most common trait is that he uses obfuscating stupidity, he likes being underestimated. So when people see a big dumb giant, they see a big dumb giant, not the calculating fighter that he really is. Most of the time he’s in a good mood, and when he travels he’s usually lost in thought. He is quite intelligent, a requirement for magic, and lore. He doesn’t avoid a fight, if you’re dumb enough to pick a fight with him well it’s your own fault, though he doesn’t out rightly try to kill his opponent unless circumstances warrant it. He’s pretty much your average joe, just bigger.

Biography & Lore

Jair was from a decent family of giants that cultivated a thirst, and respect for learning, they were still giants, and understood the merits of brute strength, but they were smart brutes. He, like many of his kind got his start as a sell sword guarding nobles, and the like. His first real break however was when he was a caravan guard, he impressed the caravan leader with his raw abilities, and the caravan leader thanked the Giant by putting in a good word for him to a nobleman. The noble took him in and taught him boxing, and the basics education.

Jair served the noble for several decades, until the noble died, by then he had impressed the nobles friends, and acquaintances which included a mage or two; who took the giant in to teach him the magical arts. He was able to handle the instruction well, it was years of study, theory and research, not much actual practice. He didn’t have too much talent in college magic, and he shied away from the darker magics, but he did catch on to rune magic, it was simplistic, well at first with an easy learning curve. Not that he was dumb but rune magic was a good, and visceral introduction to the mystic arts. Viscerality was key to keeping his interest. But as mages go, they were quite low tier, and only could teach him so much. That suited the Giant just fine, as he was starting to get a touch of wanderlust.

Our hero departed for some adventure, and exploration, happening upon a small fishing village that was beset by a sea monster. He was offered pay to dispatch the fearsome creature. The battle inside the bay was epic, as the monstrosities grappled, and slammed one another in the muck, and shore line. The sea monster was gaining the advantage till Jair improvised a weapon out of an anchor, and rope ending the battle strangling the creature, and breaking its neck. In that battle Jair found himself in that battle specifically when he was raining over head blow, after over head blow down on the sea monster with that anchor. Ohhh it felt good, and Jair dedicated his next few years of his life mastering the use of said anchor, and line as a weapon.

A lot of experience can be gain over several years of life, and dedicated study. He maintained his other disciplines, but concentrated his study on the meteor hammer. But he once again started feeling wanderlust, and began to look for adventure, and ofcourse coin.
