The hounds are a group of assassins and scouts utilized by the queen's guard.
Their members come from among the unwanted. Training is deeply rigorous such that some hounds perish before their first target is even assigned.
The hounds are trained in a variety of ways so as to be as lethal as possible. However most have some proficiency with beast taming, shadowmancy and blood magicks.

As assassins, the main purpose for the Hounds is to relentlessly hunt a target marked for death.

A piece of the target or otherwise deeply personal item must be provided; this is used to form a token called a houndstooth. The houndstooth is used via a form of blood magic to track the intended target over great distances.

A command from a member of the Queen'sguard can only be outranked the houndmaster.
Once assigned a Houndstooth a hound may not return until the token the houndstooth is soaked in the targets blood under threat of punishment worse than death.
