Ru Horvos
Appearance
Standing at an imposing 7ft tall Horvos is one of the taller of his species. Amber eyes, black fur, and tough, thick, leathery black skin mark him as a black minotaur. Known as a Blackhorn, his horns are darker than usual, treated to be hardened like iron, and extend outward menacingly, each horn capable of skewering a man at a run. He has many scars across his body from his years spent in the clawpits of enigma city, often keeping the weapons he has claimed from his opponents either on him or nearby. As he ages, his fur is becoming patchy in parts and his leathery skin commonly showing through.
Skills and Abilities
Martial and Magical:
- Axe and Mace: Not only highly experienced but greatly gifted with axes and especially large maces.
- Rage of Minos: Adept. Harnessing the power of wildstream, he can shrug off dangerous wounds but in this state is prone to frenzy, falling to unconsciousness or feeling tired when it ends.
- Tactics and Leadership. Ru is a title given to the leaders of the warchorus among other things. Meaning Horvos is not only proven in the arena but a gifted leader of beasts. He is not a master of grand strategy but on individual battlefields he has proven himself a capable and cunning leader.
- Average Tracker, like many of his kin, Horvos has a gifted sense of smell but no great skill beyond that.
- Skilled Tanner. Horvos likes tanning in his spare time.
- Average Chessplayer. Horvos is an avid fan of chess.
Weaknesses:
- Prone to Rage and frenzy if badly wounded or seeing too many losses.
- Honorable in personal combat, while this gains him respect it puts him at a disadvantage that can be exploited.
- Intelligence. While he’s got a good grasp on religion, a certain level of strategy and tactics, don’t expect to be discussing politics with him any time soon.
Strengths:
- Very Tough Hide. Black Minotaurs have a hide that is the equivalent of thick leather armor, add in actual leather or chain on top of that and it can make them very hardy. While weapons cut them, actually reaching a vital area is harder. They also possess smaller copies of some vital organs, allowing them to heal through grievous wounds over time.
- Blackhorn, Upon becoming a champion in the clawpits, a handful of black minotaurs are given the name Blackhorn, their horns are treated and hardened to be like that of iron. This is uncomfortable for they will not be able to grow unless cut off somehow.
Personality
An Honorable Savage. Not the human version of honor or the orc version for that matter. While he will fight anyone in single combat, he is still a minotaur and will kill that which is in the way of the blood hunt or defense of his city, no matter what it is. He has been known to allow an opponent to pick up their weapon before killing them viciously for example, but he would not spare a young squire just for being young.
He dislikes anyone who doesn't care for their weapon. So much so he will kill them and take it for himself. It has got to the point he has several personal attendants who look after his growing stockpile. To him weapons are sacred as the arena gods embody the weapons the minotaurs carry into battle, meaning to disrespect them is to disrespect the gods.
A fan of chess he has a grasp on bestial tactics and is inspirational to watch in battle, driving forward his beastfolk, as well as knowing when to feint or pull back. His worth is proven, so he allows younger beastfolk to lead the frontline, however you’ll find him in the center of the melee somewhere not waiting at the back.
Like all black minotaurs, he is prone to frenzy if he takes too many wounds or they suffer too many losses. Unlike orcs black minotaurs do not eat their victims, they do however take all they own. Preferring to capture slaves to sell at Enigma city, in his time Horvos has made a small fortune doing this.
